UPDATE: Fire response in 9000 block 16th SW

10:31 AM: Seattle Fire is just arriving at a residential building in the 9000 block of 16th SW [map] and reporting “light smoke.”

10:34 AM: It’s described as a “smoldering fire” that’s already tapped, so not major, and many units are being canceled. We have a crew on the way to check in person.

10:38 AM: Our crew says the SFD units have ALL left – but now we’re hearing a dispatch for police to “remove transients” from the same location.

It will be interesting to see if said tenants show up on 21st street, next door to me. A large population of gangbangers, prostitutes and thieves have been occupying the home of my elderly neighbor with Alzheimers. They come and go 24/7, more after dark and until dawn, and seem to head that way.Yes, we have been exhausting all efforts to eradicate the problem.
The criminals around here have no fear of apprehension. Learned behavior reinforced by their environment. The guardian of the elderly lady wants us to pray for the bad guys. But, we are armed instead.

Julianne, have you tried filing a complaint regarding Elder Abuse?

Yes, repeatedly. They actually were very hostile about it.An investigator and her supervisor both said illegal activity, having a sex offender living there, and the lady being left in the care of transients was all on law enforcement. Then they both said the situations were “cultural” The family is Aleut. I said” That is just racist” Apparently, according to the police. APS has ‘Gone away” I am about to test that, in spite of our recent interactions. I have never been so shocked by the complacency and buck passing of any such organization. My last words to the supervisor were “DO your job”

Another option is to work with the city to have the property declared a “nuisance property.”

@Riomama, The city does not seem willing to use that power. Since it requires the police chief to do it, it is never going to happen. It would require political maneuvering or a politically connected person.

Sorry, comment time is over.
