West Seattle traffic alert: 3-car crash at 16th/Myrtle

Nobody’s hurt, according to police, but a three-car crash at 16th/Myrtle is causing some traffic trouble – as you probably know, that’s on the road to/from South Seattle College (WSB sponsor) and not far from Sanislo Elementary. If you don’t absolutely HAVE to head that way, you might consider waiting a while. Tow crews are on the way.

I’m surprised there are not more accidents at this intersection. SDOT put in a bulb at the crosswalk, along with school crosswalk signage and lights, to try and slow people down but cars still travel far too fast. There is a lot of traffic crossing 16th on Myrtle and visibility is almost always poor from the west (downhill) side, because of the angle and parked cars.

We could use a four way stop there for pedestrian safety and to discourage treating 16th as I16. I’ve been passed on the right several times and tailgated numerous times, as I fail to go more than five over the speed limit on 16th.

Sorry, comment time is over.
