Update: If you (were) hearing the helicopter

helicopterwatch.png11:38 PM: Happened to hear this on the scanner – Guardian One was in the vicinity and volunteered to help check out a call police were en route to, a possible prowler sighting/possible shots heard in the 30th/Roxbury vicinity. Now we’re hearing that sheriff’s deputies told police the shots were in White Center county territory to the south, involving someone firing a gun after an incident involving a car. No report of injury. The helicopter isn’t seeing any evidence of a prowler so might not be around for long.

ADDED 12:10 AM: A texter on the county side of the line says deputies are still out looking for evidence of the reported gunfire, in the 28th/104th vicinity.

ADDED 12:31 AM: Our texting tipster adds that deputies did find shell casings in that area. But still no indication of any shooting victim or damage. The deputies arrived on the scene quickly, he says, because they were in the area for canvassing related to the ongoing search for the Roxbury rapist.

Quick as always! Was thinking while I was brushing my teeth for bed, that helicopter sing just flying by. Loud and clear from 35th and Morgan vicinity.

Always thanks to people calling/texting. First heard about it from the North Highline side – I suspect that was the original call, the car incident with gunfire – when a White Center Now reader called.

Glad for such a quick response by all parties. Always get a little worried when I hear the chopper circling nearby. Can count on WSB to be in the know and keep the neighborhood informed 24/7 so thank you.

I’m near 31st and 104th and the shots (5 or 6) sounded like they were about two blocks away. 15 minutes later, the helicopter circling the swamp. You guys are quick!

Thank you so much the amazing and timely reporting. Last night I heard the rapid fire shots, sounding blocks away from the 32nd sw and roxbury vicinity where I live. When the helicopter(s) started up shortly afterwards I was worried. Once again I was able to turn to this invaluable resource and it didn’t disappoint. Its amazing that this kind of event is reported on at all hours – Thank you for your dedication!

Yep I heard the shots, about 5, from our house on 90th/37th and then within a few minutes heard the helicopters. They flew around for a long time but never heard sirens. Scary!

I have been reading westseattleblog.com due to a criminal case I have been following and have also read a few other stories. I never realized how relatively safe Seattle is, compared to other cities in the U.S. This story is a perfect example of how safe Seattle is, and also how dedicated the people of this fine city are in being proactive with crime in their neighborhoods.

I live in Los Angeles, and helicopters (ghetto birds) are so common, that I rarely even wonder why they are hovering through my neighborhood. Helicopters buzzing around at all hours and wailing sirens from police are just business as usual where I live, but it is nice to see that a helicopter searching through a neighborhood in Seattle gets it citizens in action. I’ve heard a lot of great things about Seattle. Hopefully one day, I will get a chance to visit.

Sorry, comment time is over.
