West Seattle Community Garage Sale Day aftermath: Donations!

West Seattle Community Garage Sale Day sellers who didn’t want to take unsold items back in the house had multiple options this year – giving the big sale day a long tail as a donation drive. Above, the Northwest Center truck crew is keeping later hours at their Junction dropoff spot (Edmunds west of California) – till 6:30 tonight. Here’s what they’ll take. You can also schedule a Big Blue Truck pickup for next week (or beyond).

New this year – WestSide Baby set up three dropoff spots for anyone with the items it needs. One site is the group-sale location at Hotwire/Ginomai (off the 42nd SW side, south of SW Genesee):

They’re scheduled to be there till 5 pm, same end time for dropoffs at Admiral Church (California/Hill) and Fauntleroy Church (9140 California SW). Or, if you can get to WS Baby’s ops center in White Center at 10027 14th SW, they’ll accept dropoffs there until SIX tonight.

Beyond that, Stop ‘n’ Shop at the Senior Center (California/Oregon) is planning to be open for donation dropoffs until 7 pm tonight, and two schools have special requests that can be fulfilled on future dates – read about them, and get more details on the aforementioned sites, here.

So your couch did not sell and you think that in your world you can just drop it off at SW Dakota and West Marginal Way SW behind the warehouse.
Well we have you, your vehicle and your license plate number on our camera system and Monday will contact Seattle Police if it is not gone.

And if they will give me your address I will bless you with periodic samplings of construction debris.
    No Fooling.
Hope everyone else had a fun and profitable day.

The sale is just too much for us with all the traffic and such. Would be nice if there was a list for some to say they were going to have a left overs sale on Sunday. Wishful thinking I know.

We invite sellers to make that type of announcement on the WSCGSD Facebook page. You can browse the “posts by others” section: http://www.facebook.com/westseattlegaragesaleday – I remain NOT the world’s biggest Facebook fan, but in some short-term specialty situations like this, you have to let the person-to-person communication go on by itself, so the page starts to come alive in the week ahead with people posting they’re looking for something, or that they have a certain thing to sell … Ideally we would do that in the WSB Forums but there’s no way to keep that short-term volume of discussion from overwhelming the rest of the “current topics” list – we’re exploring the possibility of a software change and maybe by next year there will be. – TR
