West Seattle Crime Watch: Stolen car, bicycle to watch for

Two West Seattle Crime Watch reader reports with means of transportation to watch for – stolen car and stolen bike (the latter, part of what was taken in a garage break-in) – read on:

From Jac:

Our Subaru was stolen sometime in the night from the 1900 block of 42nd Ave SW, North Admiral district, a couple of blocks north of the library.

it was parked on the street outside our house … It’s a 1997 green Subaru Legacy Wagon with racks on the roof, license A14159Z, kid booster seats in the backseat.

My birthday present in the back. The extended family pitched in and bought me a camp kitchen from REI. We’re really bummed – we just emptied the bank account to get some major work done on it – it’s a great car.

The theft been reported to police. The officer who took the statement this morning said that Subaru’s have been reported regularly lately. He said they are usually dumped within 24 hours not too far away, and without any damage to the ignition – indicating that someone has a shaved key.

If anyone recognizes this car, please call Jacinta: 206.819.7755

From a reader who doesn’t want to be identified:

Sometime during the evening/night of Monday November 7th, someone entered our garage and stole a bicycle and some gardening tools. 36th Ave SW, between Handford and Hinds.

The bike is a small women’s Klein Panache. It is silver with purple and black writing, has drop handle bars and a small black seat.

Sorry for your losses. We had a car prowl Monday night, too: 44th and Hinds (parked on street).
    .
Given the history of car prowls in our neighborhood we (and many neighbors) keep nothing of worth in our cars. They got a little parking change and, of all things, the old foam pad (cut from an egg-crate) out of a large dog carrier my dog rides in, along with a small bath mat and polar-fleece blanket. If it’s for a dog I hope it helps him or her. They also left my driver’s side door ajar. I’m very careful about always locking my car so not sure how they got in.’
    .
    Minor, yet disturbing.

My subaru was also stolen Monday night from the 4500 block of 42nd. It’s a 1995 green impreza with some of my camera equipment and books inside. License plate 712-XIY. Mine was also locked and parked in a well-trafficked area (right in front of QFC). I hope they find whoever is doing this, as well as my car.
