This reminder just in from WSDOT regarding southbound I-5 work starting tonight in Tukwila – not far from here, so if you drive that stretch of the freeway, read on:

Crews begin six weeks of night work on I-5 between South 200th Street and I-405 to replace broken and cracking concrete panels. This quick, high-impact construction project means temporary delays for nighttime drivers.

Wednesday, Oct. 12 through Friday, Oct. 14, crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will close up to three lanes of southbound I-5 between Klickitat Drive and Military Road between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. Drivers can expect one right lane closed at 9 p.m., two right lanes closed at 10 p.m. and three right lanes closed at 11 p.m.

Friday, Oct.14 through Saturday, Oct. 15, crews will close the same area between 8 p.m. and 11 a.m. the following morning.

The on- and off-ramps to South 200th Street will also be closed.

Crews will cut open, break apart, haul away and replace concrete. The contractor is using noise shields and other tools to reduce the noise associated with the work.
