Pictorial proof: Say so long to Sylvan Way’s pothole proliferation

Thanks to Lynda B for the photo, verifying that the asphalt-removing Phase 1 of Sylvan Way “spot paving” is under way, despite the rain. As SDOT had promised, the road isn’t completely closed, but it is making things tough around the Vietnamese Cultural Center, El Rey de Taco, and the north side of The Home Depot‘s lot. Phase 2 – new asphalt – is planned tomorrow, if the weather cooperates.

SO glad they are finally doing this. It was like driving through an obstacle course!

Rejoice! This had to be the worst stretch or road in West Seattle.

Okay, so my most “cherished” memory of this road was when somebody dropped an orange traffic cone down INTO one of the Sylvan way potholes… I swear there was just a few inches of cone poking out the top of the hole! LOL.

So I’m happy they are fixing it. My Jeep’s suspension was built for off-roading and all, but it couldn’t take much more of this road. ;D

YAY, but I guess I will miss the obstacle course. Just kidding! YAY!

Although it nice to know the potholes will be fixed, it’s hard to believe that the fix is with the same problem material: asphalt! If the entire road bed was paved with concrete the fix would be more meaningful, would not need continuous repair and it has to be cheaper than repeatedly calling out the pothole brigade several times a year.

Sorry, comment time is over.
