West Seattle Outdoor Movies: ‘Star Trek’ rainout tonight

Here’s the official word: West Seattle Outdoor Movies‘ plan to show “Star Trek” tonight is canceled because of rain – there’s no indoor backup. Even if it stopped raining by dusk, it would still be soggy after the all-day rain. “Star Trek” will be rescheduled for Saturday night, August 28th, stretching out the WSOM season beyond the previously scheduled 8/21 end date.

I love that just miles away and a few hours beforehand, Outdoor Trek was happening, drizzle be damned. Two hundred people packed in an ampitheater watching a minimalist recreation of a forty year old television episode while the outdoor screening of the blockbuster remake is stranded on the runway by some moisture… I love my city!

Well, to be fair to the volunteers who put on the movie, it wasn’t the people afraid of sogginess, but the fact the equipment wouldn’t do well in the rain. I suspect you had less tech to deal with at Outdoor Trek.

Sorry, comment time is over.
