Update: “Heavy rescue” response near Highway 509

The “heavy rescue” call is for 1st Ave S/S Cloverdale, which is on the easternmost edge of West Seattle, east of White Center, around the entrance to 509 (here’s a map). On our way to check. 9:15 PM UPDATE: The fire response “closed” on the 911 log fairly quickly, and most of the fire responders were turning around and leaving as we arrived. We can see a car in the ditch on the western side – alongside the westbound lanes – of the hill, and that lane’s blocked off, but traffic is getting through, and there’s no place to pull off to find out more about what happened – but with the fire/medic units canceling, it appears so far no serious injuries.

Thanks guys. It sounds bad based on the number and speed of the engines flying past our place. I’ve not ever heard them going that fast, through intersections with horns blaring in addition to the sirens.

I think I just heard an engine come back. Hope everyone is ok.

I just drove past on my way home from work. There were still three police cars. There was a tow truck getting set to tow a white caddillac that was filthy in a way I haven’t seen before – I imagine it had already been pulled off the embankment. It may have rolled/slid along the foliage on the side of the road.

When I drove past last night around 9:00ish, the car was in the ditch and there was a guy standing at the back of a police car who appeared to be cuffed and had about 5 cops around him. Curious, no!?

Sorry, comment time is over.
