For SODO drivers on 4th S – the latest on those repairs near the stadiums that had WSDOT suggesting you avoid the area: It’ll all be done by morning, according to the latest bulletin:

Here’s the update from WSDOT:

Crews to reopen Fourth Avenue S. lane and ramp in Seattle in time for Tuesday morning commute

SEATTLE – Drivers who use Fourth Avenue S. near Seattle’s sports stadiums won’t need to look for an alternate route Tuesday.

By 5 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, crews working for WSDOT will reopen the southbound Fourth Avenue S. on-ramp to Edgar Martinez Drive S. and the southbound right through lane of Fourth Avenue S. Crews expect to complete repairs early Monday evening, nearly a day ahead of schedule. However, the lane and ramp won’t reopen until 5 a.m. Tuesday because of regularly scheduled overnight closures on Fourth Avenue S.

WSDOT and contractor Kiewit Pacific Co. closed the ramp and lane Monday morning to complete permanent repairs to beams that had been damaged by an overheight semi last Friday afternoon.

A section of the right lane of the ramp will remain closed to protect the beams from further hits. The beams are supporting construction of a new I-90/I-5 off-ramp to S. Edgar Martinez Drive for the $84.35 million SR 519 Intermodal Access Project. Crews are building the new off-ramp and a bridge over the railroad tracks on S. Royal Brougham Way. The project also includes the recently completed widening of the First Avenue S. and S. Atlantic Street/Edgar Martinez Drive S.

These improvements will create a safer SR 519 for drivers, pedestrians and bicyclists and move freight, daily commuters, sports fans and ferry travelers faster through the corridor. For more information, visit www.wsdot.wa.gov/projects/sr519.
