Just in from ArtsWest – the waiting list for the first session of its Summer Musical Theater Camp got to be so long, they opened a second session, and it has some room – read on for the announcement:
Due to overwhelming demand, ArtsWest’s Musical Theater Adventures Camp 2009 has opened a second session, expanding overall possible enrollment from 30 to 60 students. No audition is required for the Camp, but only 11 slots remain.
“The response has just been remarkable,” said ArtsWest Executive Director Alan Harrison. “When we had more than 15 students on our waiting list we decided we needed to find a way to include them.”
“I think it’s a great indicator of the deep community support we have for this program,” added Education Director Christopher Zinovitch. “Fortunately expanding the program was an option for us.”
2009 is the eighth year of ArtsWest’s nationally recognized Summer Theater Education Programs. Campers learn to express themselves, gain new skills, and have a ton of fun doing it.
The Musical Theater Adventures Camp provides young people with enriching summer experiences that develop their social and physical skills, cultivate independence and self-confidence and challenge their imaginations. The program is highly structured and requires that each camper has the motivation to fully participate.
Tuition for the 6 week program is only $750.00. Classes run June 29 through August 4, Monday to Friday from 9:00am to 3:00pm.
At the conclusion of the camp session, (August 5-9) campers participate in at least 3 performances of a full production of the Broadway musical A YEAR WITH FROG AND TOAD, Kids, based on the famous stories by Arnold Lobel. In the weeks that precede the production, they’ll experience the camaraderie and energy that builds with the unfolding of a performance, and enjoy a fun filled summer spent acting, dancing, and singing in a variety of active classes.
A Year with Frog and Toad, Kids
Music by Robert Reale
Book and Lyrics by Willie Reale
Based on the Books by Arnold Lobel
This enchanting musical follows best friends Frog and Toad on their adventures through four fun-filled seasons. Cheerful Frog and “worry-wart” Toad leap off the page, along with the rest of the animal gang, for kite-flying, sled-racing and cookie-munching. Each amphibian anecdote comes to life with hilarious, heart-warming songs exploring the challenges and rewards of friendship. A Year with Frog and Toad, Kids celebrates that having a very best friend is about as good as life gets…and having a friend that is different than you makes that friendship even more special.
