West Seattle teenagers reach out to help

Thanks to Mike for sending this link from today’s Times. It’s about 8 girls, described as high-school freshmen from West Seattle, visiting a 96-year-old Lake Forest Park Alzheimer’s patient they’d read about after someone bilked her of her life savings. As the woman is quoted as having said after the girls’ visit, “That’s a good bunch of kids.”

Good for those kids. Their parents should be proud.

I read this article this morning and was really impressed by these girls.
It is awesome to see that kindness displayed by them:)

If we all could learn by their example of concern and compassion of being neighborly…ah what a great place it would be.
    KUDO’s GIRLS- YOU ROCK !!!

Sad to hear about the story and that there are such crooks out there that prey on the elderly and disabled. Shame on them.

What makes the crimes against Mrs Taylor so much more despicable (sp?) is that she earned her “wealth”. Not that the acts would have been any less wrong had she or her late husband been Getty or Rockefeller heirs, or such.

It’s very admirable that she did such things as gathering clothes to donate to the needy, kept the rents low in the apartment buildungs she owned, and that she had planned to leave her assets to help kids in Africa.

    .

I would venture to guess that while her husband was still alive, they were not as financially well off as they could have been with him being a lawyer. Considering his advocacy for the disabled, I’m sure he did alot of pro bono and low cost work.

This is fantastic and everyone can learn from these gals. I hope that someone who knows that group reads this blog and relays our sentiments to them. ANNET – Well said. What I can say is that this will impact lives and we’ll all be better because of it.

Sorry, comment time is over.
