Late-night followup: Schuck’s gone without a trace

exshuxgone.jpg

Since the Christmas-lights touring is over, we’ll be featuring follow-ups in the WSB late-night spotlight when there’s no breaking news. Tonight: As the photo above shows, the site is scraped clean and no more debris remain at the site of the burned-out ex-Schuck’s at California/Charlestown, two weeks after the building teardown began (our report with video, here). Next up, construction of the two-story commercial building planned for the site.

Really? Parking for only 17 cars? Am I missing something by not understanding the term “surface parking?”

    That’s a fair-sized restaurant. A 24-hour diner, perhaps?

I heard rumors about a Trader Joe’s moving into this site? Anybody know? WSB?

  • WSB January 4, 2008 (11:56 pm)

Trader Joe’s has been rumored for every potential development site in West Seattle over the course of the past couple years we’ve been tracking all this. This site is going to have a restaurant and medical offices, per the latest plan. Too small for a TJ’s. As for whether we ever really will get a TJ’s in WS, lots of new land in play now so we’ll be continuing to pester their corporate folks to ask ’em if they’ve chosen any new locations yet.

Sorry, comment time is over.
