The demolition we’ve all been waiting for is almost here

This could be our last look at the burned-out ex-Schuck’s on the northwest corner of Cali/Charlestown — the demolition permit has just been granted. No backhoes yet when we went by an hour and a half ago, but another eyewitness report later spotted utility disconnections under way.

    What took so long?

Trader Joe’s: looks like there might be a vacancy?!?!?

Please no more hair salons, accountant offices, or coffee shops.

Just what we need. More signs of the gentrification and high rents of West Seattle, no more living spaces for the working class. That building could’ve been home to a good 30 squatters.

What’s up with the Ron Paul contingent in W.S.? Hopefully that comes down in the demolition, too! And I’m a GOP’er. lol

What are us folks on Charlestown going to use as a landmark? Nothing better than “turn left at the burnt out building” when your giving driving directions !

    flipjack –

I usually would agree, but not in this particular case. Nobody is living in the burned out Schucks building, so nobody is getting evicted or losing an affordable apartment.

Who says it has not been squatted in? Good riddance!

What ever goes there, lets hope they have a thought process of how it will traffic.

Have they considered the obvious, a much needed Trader Joes???

Sorry, comment time is over.
