When I was younger, we had two hidden BMX tracks we used almost on a daily basis.

The first track was in the woods next to Bon Air. I remember an old abandoned car off the bike trail. If I remember right, it was a VW Bug. The BMX track itself was a one-way track. It had a couple moguls on the top part of the track, right before a big drop off that led you down to the next jump. The next jump was actually the only jump and it was pretty big for 10 and 11 year olds. The track finished with a little burm to slow you down. Had a blast there. I drove up Bon Air a while back and it looked like they made an urban trail there.

The second track we had was in the woods at the bottom of Jefferson, near Beach Drive. We called this track, “Circle 8”. We spent most of our time here. We modified the track constantly. There was also a big rope swing up the trail from the track that we’d spend countless hours horsing around on. Good times.

I have to say though, my friends and I didn’t make either one of these tracks. We just found out about them through other BMXers.

Whenever we’d travel between Bon Air and Circle 8, we’d always stop at the little corner market on Beach Drive that’s now a little park. Summers back then sure did seem endless.

DUDE! I used to mess around those too. Me and my housemate Dusty lived in Arbor Heights and we used to pile the BMX bikes on my Subaru wagon and go to Burien or to down town for some street riding at Seattle Center. Nice, thanks for the memories. p.s. Whiskey Woods!

Remember Dirty Phil? Little Jason? Chris Eiman?

Unfortunately, I don’t remember Phil or Jason, but I do know Chris real well. Him and me went to Fairmount Park together. Chris is the reason I knew about those tracks.

Pretty sure my brother was the operator of one or the other. His name is James Allen (not too worried cuz it is a pretty common name) but he was one of the top BMX guys in the state and actually constructed a track in his back yard off 509, much to the dismay of his neighbors.

I knew James Allen, and knew of Chris Eiman. I raced at SeaTac BMX, River Valley, PI….etc. I raced/trail rode from 1988-1995, and then again from 1999-2006. I miss the scene! :p

We should get an old school BMX night going somewhere. I still have my 24″

I rode circle 8 a few times. Bonair had oil drums or something under the dirt on the landing? I flew off that once and stuck the front wheel into the soft dirt off to the side and crashed big time.

I had an ELF double cross XL, with S&M Pitch forks, ELF blast bars. thats the bike I miss.

haha! I had an Elf double X too! I loved that bike. Redline flight 180’s. TNT hubs. Araya rims. ODI Longnecks. Donuts. Comp III’s. :p

Free Agent Limos, GT Pro Series, Profiles/Flights, Crupi pedals.

In 2005 I was on a Felt, Ti spindal, clipless pedals….the old days were much more fun!

Dang! You guys weren’t messing around. I can’t say I had all that stuff. My Redline and Mongoose were pretty much stock. Chris took my Redline down to Reno and raced his qualifier with it. He bought that bike from me right after that.
