DOCMemberSo I have seen some talk about a WSB Happy Hour, and so I figured lets do one this Monday, the 4th. I’m thinking Beverage place at around 8? They have good monday beer specials and good beer. I will try to be hanging around the couch area at 8, or somewhere else if that is taken. More info to come. Anyone interested?

JoBParticipantmondays aren’t generally a great day for me
and 8 is a little late :)
but i will see if i can stir a little interest anyway…
October 1, 2010 at 10:41 pm #704807
DOCMemberPerhaps 7 then? Thanks, the more feedback the better. Regardless, I will be there.

EmmyJaneParticipantI can do Monday. Let me know what time you decide. Thanks for organizing!

EmmyJaneParticipantOh and since it’s bev, maybe EmmyJane the Rottweiler will make an appearance too.

westcoastdebParticipantHow I wish I wasnt going to miss out on this! I will be out of town that week, but hopefully this is the first of many.

redblackParticipanti love locally-brewed ales, but i have created many enemies in a short time on WSB forums.
or fora. or whatever.
i fear for my safety, and – if i were to attend such an alleged function therefore also, too – i would have have to wear a disguise.

DOCMemberOR…. You could show up, say you are on the Blog, but not say your username. It would work wonders. Then we could get together and enjoy a beer.
Or look at it this way. We often use the blog to have discussions that people don’t participate in face-to-face. Information is traded that would otherwise not be said.
Don’t worry about enemies and come make some friends!
October 2, 2010 at 4:05 am #704813
JanSParticipantoh, hey. I made enemies, too, sort of. It works itself out. Those who weren’t crazy about me/us decided to form their own group and not hang with the “fora” members. Their prerogative. Monday evening is iffy for me, as I see clients more after work than earlier in the day, but we’ll see :) I love forum get togethers.

celeste17ParticipantWe need to do one at West Seattle Bowl and check out the new restaurant. We need to do it on a Sunday afternoon.
October 2, 2010 at 4:46 am #704815
KevinParticipantThe noise level at the Beveridge Place Pub makes it very difficult to hear and be heard.
I second the suggestion by Celeste of trying the new West Seattle Bowl High Strike restaurant for two reasons. They offer food, and it will likely be quiet enough for meaningful conversations.

JoBParticipantredblack..
we are all in disguise here ;->
I have been a lightening rod for animus since the inception of the forum and still walk the streets of West Seattle in complete safety… though not without a bit of tarnish around the hems of my reputation:(
you wouldn’t think a nice little old lady could generate so much fuss :)))
Kevin and Celeste..
i second the idea of meeting at a restaurant..
though wonder how much quieter a restaurant at a bowling alley will be ?
DOC..
perhaps you understand the real downfall of forum meet-ups now:) everyone thinks they could build a better mousetrap and holds out for the ultimate event :)
i really will try to show up… tho i am not so sure i will add much to your social circle being in my 60s and sadly past all that drinking and partying stuff…
A bunch of us are going to see Georgie Kunkle tomorrow at 2 at the Admiral Theatre… She was our local version of rosy the riveter and still does stand up…
you are welcome to join us:)

ToddinWestwoodMemberi might be able to make it out.

DOCMemberI’m glad that many of you can come. I have no expectations. I am younger, but I am not a heavy drinker. I may have three beers and hopefully some good company, and I will be quite happy. Also, I believe I will show up about 7:30 since some don’t want to stay out as late.
JoB, I appreciate your insights on the idea of too many chiefs and not enough indians. I want to start by builing A mousetrap, and then other people can refine it in time. I’m sure there are many good places around west Seattle that may be a better meeting place, but I decided to just pick one and stick with it. If we wanted to meet again, I have no problem with another place or time, I just wnated to get the ball rolling, or the mouse in the trap at least :)
To everyone: Show up! It could be cool, but hey, it could also suck. However, if there are people and beer it could be excellent, and you will never know until you try.
October 4, 2010 at 3:32 am #704821
KevinParticipantHi Doc, count me in. We’ll see how the noise level is. Hopefully it will be such that we can all chat and hopefully have a great time. I look forward to meeting new friends. I’ll likely be the one with a camera around my neck.
October 4, 2010 at 7:43 pm #704822
furryfacesParticipantOne or more of us will be there! Thanks for pulling this gathering together! Cheers, F3
PS: The Beveridge Place Pub is our South Headquarters!

DOCMemberJoB, sorry you had a bad day. Perhaps a beer and some company can bring a smile to your face?
October 5, 2010 at 3:48 am #704826
JoBParticipantdoc..
thanks for the concern…
just thinking about all of you with a beer in hand put a smile on my face..
hope someone drank an extra for me.
October 5, 2010 at 3:56 am #704827
KevinParticipantWow! wasn’t that a fun evening… got there around 7:45, walked all around looking for other folks that seemed to be looking for others. Had a beer, and walked around some more. Gave up around 8:15.
Either no one showed, or they all decided to just keep to themselves.
From the lessons learned department.
Organizer – consider bringing a little table tent with perhaps something like “WSB” written on it.
Organizer and participants – consider a “Hello, my name is…” or “WSB” name badge. Hanging a camera around my neck, as I said I was going to do, did not help me. Not even a nod or wave from anyone that I managed to make eye contact with.
Consider selecting a “conversation friendly venue” – as I expected, it was noisy. Meanwhile, next door at the Feedback Lounge, I counted perhaps six to eight folks. The Feedback also has food.
.

EmmyJaneParticipantAh Kevin, sorry it didn’t work out. I happened to bring EmmyJane so they recognized me. There was a group sitting right inside the door. :-( I hope you try again next time. :-(

HMC RichParticipantI haven’t logged in for over a week. I wish I had known. Have a good night everyone.
