WSBKeymasterUsually spam accounts register and then don’t ever do anything. Today they seem to be posting the spam fast and furious. Thanks to the comparatively HUGE number of people who flagged the first wave – was covering the legislators’ meeting, opened the editor mailbox for the first time in a while, and there were like three dozen reports. Really appreciate it. (And the person who flagged the very first one early early this morning.)

WSBKeymasterSorry about the repeat appearance – this is the kind of spam comment that the filter on our main site catches by the dozens daily (more than a million in the life of our site), but configuring the forum system to stop it is a little trickier. Working on it, and also we are in and out covering things, so our apologies for the lag between flag and deletion. We usually are able to monitor via iPhone while out in the field but iPhone was doubling as a still camera for a particularly photogenic event we just spent the last 1 1/2-plus hours at. Thanks again for your patience and help!

WSBKeymasterExactly. It doesn’t work well with bbPress, the forum content system, unfortunately — we had it activated for a while and all it seemed to do was grab hold randomly to legitimate members’ posts. The e-mail-registration system keeps most spambots at bay but these most recent ones seem to have figured out how to game it!
