angelescrestParticipantOne of our bedrooms remains a frozen den. We need another heat source. Any recommendations for one that is both safe and does a good job? Thanks so.

pamMemberWe use the white portable radiator heaters, they sell them at True Value. (We actually have been buying them over the summer at garage sales) They heat up a room nicely. Like any other portable heater you have to make sure you don’t put clothes, papers, etc near it. We used them last year when the price of oil was so high, our electricty bill was obviously higher then normal but not as much as it would have been to keep refilling the oil tank.

kParticipantwe just bought a Lasko ceramic heat tower. works wonderfully. they had it at Bed, Bath & Beyond so you can use a coupon. it has a timer setting which is great for auto turn off. works great for our basement.

SueParticipantWe also have the Lasko ceramic tower – two actually, so we could create zoned heating instead of the whole house furnace. We got ours at Fred Meyer in Burien. We’ve been happy with them.

JeffroMemberWe just got the Lasko tower at Sears and love it. It gets our attic room nice and toasty. I love the timer setting and the remote control is great for when it’s cold but you’re too tired to get out of bed. It doesn’t burn to touch it which is good for our toddler too.
We’re borrowing an oil-based Kenwood radiator which has been pretty good at heating up our main floor, though it’s hot to the touch. I’m sure it’s more energy-efficient to use long-term, but we’re hoping we don’t need either for much longer.

squareeyesParticipantLove love love my DeLonghi oil-filled radiator. Does a great job of warming up a room.
