New Cellphone

-Am DONE with my Razr. Recommendations for a more contemporary/up-to-date with technology cellphone. What do you have and why? I’m toying with the idea of the G1.

I guess the first question would be…do you care about which carrier you sign up with? Some phones are tied to specific carriers, so that would limit your choices…unless you’re willing to buy a phone independent of any ‘new contract’ discounts and then you’re a little less limited – although you’d still be a bit limited by SIM vs no-SIM phones.

Another question would be what you use your phone for. Will you be surfing the web and/or texting and/or emailing and/or listening to music with the phone?

Do you want a QWERTY-enabled phone (either hard-keys or touchscreen)?

How important is camera quality/clarity?

Personally – I’ve always liked Nokia and Sony Ericsson phones most, but Samsung and Pantech are also pretty good. I’m not a fan of Motorolas or LG’s. These opinions are based more on phone design/features than on product quality. I haven’t found a huge variation in phone quality myself.

I recently replaced my Blackberry with an iPhone and couldn’t be happier. It’s actually the best “tech” purchase I’ve probably ever made. I like the fact that having had it less than a month I have never once had to look at a manual and the available apps are amazing. My only gripe is that you can’t receive of send MMS (Pics, video, etc.) to another phone. I get messages sent with pics sent to me all the time and all you get is a message with a link, login and passcode and you have to go to a stupid AT&T website to retrieve which means you pretty much need to get to a pc to view or have a pen and paper handy to write down the login/password info…hopefully this will be addressed with the next software upgrade? Honestly, I couldn’t be happier with the iPhone and I never had anything bad to say about my previous Blackberry….As Alki_2008 stated above you have a few questions to answer to really identify which phone is best for you.

I am with T-mobile and I just got the G1 and I love it. I have used it in several places and have found a couple of places that I can’t get the internet but can get cell service. I even get messages from my cousin in MA and I can just open them.

I’m with T-mobile too. I like the rates, love the G1 ( former Razr user too) and the app’s associated with the G1 and their Android is more open to creative applications than Apple’s restrictive apps.

My preference is the Qwerty board rather than the touchscreen and the ease of of the G1 takes getting use to, but in the end, I’m sold on it.
