melissaParticipantDeanna Sposari is fantastic. She will find the best mortgage for you even if it’s not with her. She’s that honest. Worked with her when I bought my first ever house, when I bought my now-I-have-a-family house, and when we did our remodel. She’s at M&T Mortgage and her # is 206.938.2911

WSBKeymasterRhonda Porter has not only been a WSB sponsor since the early going last year, she also is frequently quoted in local/regional/national media and is a prolific blogger offering straightforward tips and info both to consumers and within her industry. We haven’t had the opportunity to do business with her but I would suggest at least talking to her or exchanging e-mail:

DavidFParticipantI reccomend Anne Liberato, with Cobalt Mortgage, 425 605 3118, 800 331 9186, ann.liberato@cobaltmortgage.com.
She is a wonderful woman, and a great resource in our community.

Fantastic. She did our mortgage 9 years ago on our old place, and this year on our new one. She did great both times, working extra hard to get us the best deal and to smooth out any wrinkles. And she’s delightful to work with.

acemotelParticipantI love Dan Murphy and Dennis Brown. See their great qualifications here: http://tinyurl.com/6rnnpb
Dennis has worked for many years in the mortgage business, as a broker and loan officer. Dan is a realtor and was appointed by the mayor to the Washington State Real Estate Commission.
Because they work together, their customers enjoy the benefit of their combined experience. And they are a joy to work with.
There are so many people in the real estate business. Over the years, I have bought and sold many properties. These are guys I trust 100%.

Seattle Mortgage – Lake Union

Although her office is on Lake Union, she lives in WS. She is the BEST! I ask a ton of questions, and as a first time home buyer wanted to know what I was getting into. But I never felt like I was bothering her and she made sure she answered all of my questions. I would not have made it through the process without her.

AlParticipantWe worked with Rhonda on a re-fi (recently completed) and she was fantastic. Very responsive, patient, answered all our questions/concerns and anticipated our decisions so we got a great rate, worked with a very good escrow agency, and everything was on-time. Probably the best re-fi experience we’ve ever had.

grrParticipantwow! Thanks! Don’t know how I missed Rhonda as a WSB sponsor! Got some more research to do :)

KenParticipantIn other news… where are the risky mortgages the Conservatives have been talking about?
Excerpt:
Here, then, was the difference between fantasy finance and fantasy football: When a fantasy player drafts Peyton Manning, he doesn’t create a second Peyton Manning to inflate the league’s stats. But when Eisman bought a credit-default swap, he enabled Deutsche Bank to create another bond identical in every respect but one to the original. The only difference was that there was no actual homebuyer or borrower. The only assets backing the bonds were the side bets Eisman and others made with firms like Goldman Sachs. Eisman, in effect, was paying to Goldman the interest on a subprime mortgage. In fact, there was no mortgage at all. “They weren’t satisfied getting lots of unqualified borrowers to borrow money to buy a house they couldn’t afford,” Eisman says. “They were creating them out of whole cloth. One hundred times over! That’s why the losses are so much greater than the loans. But that’s when I realized they needed us to keep the machine running. I was like, This is allowed?”

RhondaPorterMemberThanks for the kind words! I just met with a new client (fellow WS neighbor) at Coffee to a Tea with Sugar for a refi…which is I how learned about being mentioned a few times this forum.
I invite any of you to check out my “twitter” where I post the rates I’m quoting live: http://www.twitter.com/mortgageporter
We’re technically a Correspondent Lender, which is like a combo between a broker and a bank. We have our own underwriting, processing, prepare loan docs and fund from our credit line. We are also direct endorsed HUD lenders and the company has been around 30 years. I’ve been in mortgage for 9 years and before that, title and escrow for 14.
Enough about me…thanks again!

WSBKeymasterYet another reason to use Twitter … but even if you don’t want to sign up for your own account, you can still read individual users’ messages at the webpages for them, such as the one Rhonda posted above. We use Twitter via two accounts – random ramblings, breaking news blurbs, the stuff that appears in the blue box in the right sidebar, is at http://twitter.com/westseattleblog
We also send out a feed of the latest WSB links (automated) at

RhondaPorterMemberTwitter is great for following topics–I enjoy checking out the search you have set up here at WSB (off topic…sorry). The only goofy thing with Twitter is that if you’re going to have two accounts, you need to use different email addresses w/the set up (unless they’ve changed this, as I think they should).
