I am trying to find out some history and ownership of the old Nifty’s on Harbor Island. Anyone know anything.

I don’t have any information that I can provide you, but I’ve always been fascinated by the number of restaurants and watering holes that existed in the industrial areas of Seattle back in the day. There was the Nifty, and the Harbor Island Tavern, plus the Dutchman over on 1st and Spokane. Plus the Blew Eagle on Spokane just west of the Chelan Café. My guess is it goes back to the days before the WS Freeway existed?

This sounds really interesting. I love everything of old Seattle so I hope someone can shed some light on these establishments. Pull tabs, pickled eggs, nuts under heat lamps, old school joints. I don’t miss the smoke though! Modern Seattle was crafted on napkins in Franco’s Hidden Harbor on Lake Union.

Are there any straight up taverns left anymore? No, not the “Lumbersexual” hipster joints.
