I am new to using wi-fi on my phone. I just searched for wi-fi connections on it and a “Free California wi-fi” network came up as an option. It is not locked. Location near Findlay / California.

As far as I know, there isn’t a free zone of wi-fi in WS unless it is associated with a business. Do you know the background on this network or who is hosting this?

I’m cautious with my security, so I want to look into it before I use it. Thanks!

    Might it be C&P Coffee?

Could it be related to the Rapid Ride Line? I know there is free WiFi on the buses, could there be free access from the bus stops too?

It wouldn’t be that. That will come up as King County wi-fi. I wound up on it briefly when the Rapid Ride demo bus was at Jubilee Days (where we had a booth the second day) in White Center this past July.

I’ve never heard of it and would assume that any wi-fi you bump into is to be used with caution.

I believe this is what you’re seeing

It’s a great idea, but I found it to be a bunch of tech guys trying to get wireless free for everyone. Great movement but IMHO, for security, i use my cellular’s data plan and use my phone as my own hotspot. I think I pay $35.00 a month for the hotspot and unlimited data usage.
