Greg33ParticipantDoes anyone know if Beni Hoshi Teriyaki @ 35th and Fauntleroy is out of business? Seemed pretty quiet and dark the last couple of times driving by.
I remembered a story on the blog near the end of last year that the City of Seattle might be utilizing this property in the future.
Anyway, I hope they haven’t closed. Absolute best teriyaki in West Seattle, and yes, we’ve tried them all at one point or another. The old Yoshi’s on Delridge used to be good as well.

WSBKeymasterThere is no project anywhere near formal proposal stage for that site. We’ll check tomorrow but they might have taken the occasion of Summer Fest weekend to take time off, you never know … we tried to go to a West Seattle restaurant for dinner tonight that had, it turned out, taken the whole day off. – TR

JiggersMemberThe worst teriyaki ever made if you ask me. They switched names in the past but not the recipe. I’ve never seen it busy and don’t know how they’ve been in business for this long.

oddrealityParticipantAnd yet…we love their chicken yakisoba..:)
Different strokes and all that. I do not like most teriyaki so I’ll miss them if they are gone.

WSBKeymasterWell, we’re fans, though New Teriyaki and Wok in Morgan Junction remains our #1 fave. I forgot to go take a look. Going now.

Greg33ParticipantThanks for the update! Nice to know they’re still open.

daledaboneMemberYeah, they have gone way down hill.. Got boiled beef and lot’s of giant chunks of ginger in my last 2 trips there.. never again! the old owners had great food but now it’s just bad..

DannyQMemberI guess it wouldn’t hurt for them to do a little landscaping and weed pulling out front. Maybe clean the outside up a bit. Wouldn’t cost much if we all pulled a weed every time we walked in and showed it to the cook for a 1% discount on take out. :-)

HelperMonkeyParticipantI can’t believe that place IS still in business. I must be the only one in West Seattle who got a roach in their teriyaki…or the only one who noticed. blech. (If you want good teriyaki, try Yummy Teriyaki in the junction.)

oddrealityParticipantThe chicken yakisoba remains the same…very good. Nothing has changed, no roaches..yet…can’t speak to the beef..never had it.
I would have noticed the extra crunch of a roach had I eaten one. Yuck. Roaches!!I’ve seen them in several restaurants in W.Seattle over the years. Not so unusual but yucky and never saw any in food! How long ago was that??
I do wish they would clean the place up a bit.

JiggersMemberMy favorite teriyaki joint is Nikko’s next to Subway. But teriyaki here on the mainland isn’t as good as in Hawaii. Nor is the chinese food. It tastes horrible here and is way better in Hawaii and San Francicso.

JiggersMemberThe dirtier the restaurant the tastier the food is. You should be able to lick the walls and taste the secret sauce. If you can’t, it is no good.

JehuMemberI’ve never tried their teriyaki, but they’ve been claiming to have the best “teriya” in town for a while now…

VanessaParticipantWe have eaten there for many years, and have no complaints whatsoever. The pork dishes are very tender. Can’t speak to the chicken teriyaki. Yummy Teriyaki is very good. We all have our favorites. Sorry some of you haven’t had such good experiences but I give them thumbs UP.

WSBKeymasterJiggers! I miss Hawaii-style Chinese food too. There was a place called Hee Hing near Kapiolani Park, mauka from Waikiki’s Diamond Head end, that my mother took us to every Friday. Sigh.
Otherwise, this whole thread inspired me to get lunch from Beni Hoshi today. After sitting in the parking lot for half an hour updating crime coverage. Yet another spot with perfect Sprint 4G.
