Seattle-Tacoma City Nature Challenge Tidepooling

Join Puget Soundkeeper Alliance, Seal Sitters, and the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife for a public meetup for science at 5 p.m. on Friday, April 28, at Charles Richey Sr Viewpoint Park in West Seattle. We will show you how to participate in the Seattle-Tacoma City Nature Challenge and lead everyone through an observation at the park! Come learn how to observe nearby nature as part of a global event and contribute to community science!

This meetup is free and open to all ages, no sign up required. All you need is a mobile phone or tablet with data, the iNaturalist app (also free and we can help you download and set it up) and some natural curiosity. If you don’t have a smartphone or the app, don’t worry! We are more than happy to help pair you up with somebody who does.

At the event, we will show how you can help by observing nature, identifying observations, or better yet – both – looking high and low for all nature in the Seattle-Tacoma area (all of Snohomish, King and Pierce counties) and sharing your observations using iNaturalist!

You will also have the opportunity to learn about invasive European green crabs from one of WDFW’s Outreach Specialists, including ways you can help and what WDFW, partners, and tribes are doing to manage the aggressive invader.
