CELEBRATIONS AFTER THE INAUGURATION

Click! Design That Fits (WSB sponsor): 5% extra off current January sale prices if you stop in and say “Yes We Can!”

West 5: Happy Hour pricing, 11 am-6 pm

Skylark Club and Cafe (WSB sponsor):
SO LONG, COWBOY!
Celebrate the beginning of a new era as our new president Barack Obama is sworn in on Tuesday, January 20th. Here at Skylark we will be honoring the occasion all day (and especially delighting in the
long-overdue exit of President Bush). You will already have watched the main events unfold at the crack of dawn Pacific Standard Time. As you get antsy to share the joy with your neighbors, feel free to head down to Skylark for lunch featuring brunchy specials starting at 11:30am. Local television news coverage will be projected on our 7’x7′ screen (okay, painter’s tarp) until 3pm for those of you that need to drink in every drop of the glorious day. At 3pm we will shift gears for happy hour and begin to project clips of all-American black and white Westerns, such as “The Lucky Texan” featuring John Wayne, “King of the Cowboys” with Roy Rogers, and “To The Last Man” with Shirley Temple. Happy hour specials from 3pm to 6pm and again from 9pm to 1am include $1 off wells, drafts, bottled beers and wine and delicious $4 sliders. The party continues with Spin Your Wax open turntables at 6pm, when Skylark owners Jessie and Charlie and West Seattle Blog’s intrepid reporters Patrick and The Young Intern tackle the Technics. Feel free to bring your own vinyl to express how you feel about the new regime! Karaoke follows at 9:30pm with Burning Hearts’ Uncle Bling hosting punk/metal/hardcore karaoke until close. Is there a farewell song to George (“Highway to Hell” by AC/DC or “War Pigs” by Black Sabbath) or a welcome song to Barack (“Sharp Dressed Man” by ZZ Top) you’d like to sing? After a taste of our Pisco Punch–much like the Pisco sour W. was seen drinking recently–you’ll let it all out. To complete the catharsis, we’ll provide a life-sized cardboard Bush cutout and Sharpie markers for your defacing pleasure. Skylark also encourages you to please bring gently used shoes all day long…we’ll donate them to charity for you. Though it’s tempting, refrain from throwing the shoes. The metaphor’s there. You don’t need to work for it. Love, Skylark

Shadowland and Beveridge Place Pub also plan specials
