Ferry-line idling reminders? FCA supports new proposal

Also from last night’s Fauntleroy Community Association meeting: The board agreed to support a proposal by members Sherry and Ron Richardson, to request signage along Fauntleroy Way asking drivers to turn off their engines while waiting, to reduce fuel use, noise, and pollution.

People need signs for this? Really?

I have seen city signs like this near the Ballard Bridge which say to turn off your vehicle when waiting to protect the salmon. I say if the city thinks it’s that important for the salmon, it should be even more so for our neighborhood and children. People shouldn’t need signs for this, but the ferry travelers treat our neighborhood as their “parking lot” with no respect to our environment or inhabitants. Or rules of the road frequently.
