Backing off a bit

Looks like Admiral Safeway has budged a little from its hard line against non-shoppers using its parking lots. We were just forwarded this snippet from a bulletin sent to Lafayette Elementary families by the principal:

I have spoken to Steve Rood, the Manager of Safeway. He assured me
that Lafayette parents can continue to use back (south) parking lot for up
to 2 hours for drop-off and pick-up. Also, if we have an evening event,
with prior notice, we can continue to use the Safeway parking lot.

I didn’t really think they were worried about school folks since they tend to be predictable. Thanks for understanding, Steve. As far as the people using Safeway for a park and ride–go get em!

Maybe Safeway could sell all-day parking lot passes. There might be 20-40 slots in the south lot which they’d be willing to allow on a permit basis. Parking is getting to be an issue at Admiral and at the Junction. Probably time for someone to build a neat little half-burried 4-floor parking structure on one of the adjacent streets.

Goodness, people would never park in an underground garage in the Admiral District. They might have to pay a flat rate of 100 pennies for 24 hours of covered parking within walking distance of all the stores and bus stops that serve downtown.

Gina…too funny…yes, I have heard people complain about the underground parking by Bartell’s, and that it costs…some people just expect a free lunch. They’ve been spoiled in the Alaska Junction, which unfortunately has many of the free lots now going to paid lots. We are blessed to be where we are…have you ever gone to a friends house on Capitol Hill and tried to find parking? Literally impossible unless you want to ante up 5 bucks or so…

I am boycotting Lafayette for forcing the cave. No more French names, I’m calling it Freedom School from now on.

now, now..we don’t think they’re “stupid”. They just don’t know that all caps means that you’re yelling. It’s simply a matter of courtesy to not use caps. We need to play nice :)
