WEST SEATTLE CRIME WATCH: Gunfire confirmed in Alki, Fairmount Park; plus, peeping report

Three reports in West Seattle Crime Watch:

GUNFIRE: Police have received reports of possible gunfire in three different areas in the past hour and a half, and just confirmed two. First, police found one casing near Fauntleroy/Findlay. Second, they just found “multiple” casings in the 2300 block of Alki SW. No injuries reported in connection with either, and no other details yet. (The other report was around 10:30 pm, possible gunfire heard in Westwood, Gatewood, and Upper Fauntleroy, but no evidence turned up in that.) … 12:34 AM UPDATE: Two people have reported vehicle damage related to the Alki gunfire.

One other Crime Watch note:

PEEPING: Sent tonight by a reader:

This morning at 5:30 am, I found a male wearing a black hoodie crouched outside my bedroom window, looking in while I was getting dressed. My window was partially open. My outdoor area is enclosed by a wall that he jumped over. He exited onto California Avenue between Brandon and Dawson. The police responded quickly, and I’ve filed a report.

I reported at 11:40pm on 6/11/25 shots heard from the High Point/Fairmount area but wasn’t able to tell where they originated from. Dispatcher confirmed other reports at the same time.

  • K June 12, 2025 (6:26 am)

There were a LOT of shots. They woke us up and it kept going in fast succession. It was 11:40. I’m in the same area as Dan. Is it best to report to 911 or non emergency when those things happen?

    • WSB June 12, 2025 (9:15 am)

      911, asap, always.

    • Rhonda June 12, 2025 (12:42 pm)

      911. Shots fired by violent criminals in public is as emergency as emergencies get.

  • Also heard in north arbor heights June 12, 2025 (6:43 am)

10:31 pm. I called 911 immediately. Wasn’t sure where it came from but sounded like 35th and Roxbury.

    • WSB June 12, 2025 (9:14 am)

That was the one for which evidence was NOT foubd,

  • Arch Stanton June 12, 2025 (6:49 am)

I was told there would be two officers in shifts, patrolling Alki/ north admiral (beat 2 for west Seattle) NIGHTLY, starting after memorial day. We’ve had multiple shootings since then. Last one took officers 30 min to respond to, at 4:00am (was told due to shift change). What is going on in this city???

  • Sandi June 12, 2025 (6:51 am)

I also reported hearing a series of 12-15 gunshots at approximately 11:40pm. This morning, this photo was shared on Ring.

    • nicole June 12, 2025 (9:26 am)

this is my bed. my neighbor (who took this photo/posted on ring) helped me find the casings. i would be having a very different morning had those shots been inches away. if anyone has information, please let me and the police know.

      • Brett June 12, 2025 (1:36 pm)

Wow! This looks like it is from the Findlay and Fauntleroy shooting?

        • nicole June 12, 2025 (3:40 pm)

the casings (2 casings and a full bullet) were found on fauntleroy between juneau and findlay. my apartment is on the ground level (slightly raised off the ground) off fauntleroy south of juneau.

  • Mar-Sea June 12, 2025 (9:35 am)

I was out for a walk on 41st approaching Juneau when I heard about 6 shots close by. I dropped down to the ground. A few sounds later, I saw a car speed past on Juneau heading towards California. I couldn’t tell what kind of car, a body style similar to a Honda Fit, maybe gray or blue.

    • Sandi June 12, 2025 (6:54 pm)

Please call this information in to police. Event 25-161573. Same if anyone has security camera video, which an officer called back today and asked if I have any.

  • LP June 12, 2025 (10:57 am)

I reported “at least 10 (rapid fire) shots” at 11:35 pm at Alki and Bonair Dr S., I was close enough to hear the casings hit the pavement.  I watched the police mark, document, and gather 9 casings. I didn’t get a good look at the car as I was hitting the deck, but I do know only one car was involved and no people were on the boardwalk.

  • k June 12, 2025 (11:08 am)

That peeping report is terrifying!  Hopefully SPD is able to find and capture him quickly.  That’s not accidental behavior; he’ll do it again.

  • Jort June 12, 2025 (11:29 am)

Gunshots continue to travel into the bedrooms of sleeping Seattle citizens and – where is our council member, Rob Saka, who promised all of us that we’d be safe if he was elected? Could it be that he’s spending too much time waffling around on various transportation pet projects like parking changes and the $2 million request to remove a curb that blocked illegal left turns? I see no sense of urgency from this politician. All I see is a person who wants more than anything to treat all of us like we’re employees at a corporation who have to sit through a corporate communications “actually, I’m great!”  meeting. A politician who is telling each and every one of us that we’re not actually seeing what we see with our very own eyes. Rob Saka promised West Seattle would be safer under his watch. Tell that to the neighbors with bullet holes in the wall just inches from their sleeping heads.

    • wetone June 12, 2025 (12:38 pm)

What’s Saka going to do ? snap his fingers and the problem is gone ? believe me I’m no Saka fan being he’s one of Harrell’s troops, but this stuff we have going on in Seattle and elsewhere in this state falls back on mayor Bruce Harrell and gov Ferguson. Until they start letting police enforce the current laws we have today and our political parties change the broken court systems of holding everyone accountable, especially minors this state will continue to spiral downhill ;(

      • Jort June 12, 2025 (1:37 pm)

Ok, see, Rob Saka made public safety the centerpiece of his entire campaign. So I think it’s pretty fair to hold him accountable for his promises. And are you saying that bullets are raining down into people’s bedrooms at night because police can’t “enforce the current laws?” I’m pretty sure it’s against the law to shoot into somebody’s house.  You, like Saka, seem to believe that the only way we can stay safe is for the police to feel like they have free rein to run this city as they see fit, and that spooky, creepy liberals can never hurt a police officer’s feelings or they’ll never do their jobs. Bullets are flying into houses.

      • Sixbuck June 12, 2025 (2:16 pm)

Until our political parties change our broken court system?WA has only one political party. It is the party that broke our court system and everything else along the way. Try voting differently.

      • Jake June 12, 2025 (3:05 pm)

There’s so much he could do! He could write policy changes that actually cut down on this. Taxing the wealthy to implement more youth programs is a start! He just flaps his gums and does nothing!

  • Alki resident June 12, 2025 (11:30 am)

Installing dash cams on your vehicles can record people and cars and plates. It can be very helpful.

    • Oh Brother June 12, 2025 (2:56 pm)

Yes, let’s help create a Nanny State where everything that everyone does is recorded.

      • EVGuy June 12, 2025 (10:37 pm)

Nannies take care of people. Dash cams and other cameras don’t take care of anything, they just record it so you can hopefully do something about it later. Very common in other countries, especially Russia, where you need the evidence to get any help in the first place. Since we can’t stop the gun supply, we have to look at other ways to catch and convict these criminal scumbags. If that means being recorded when you are _in public_ with _no expectation of privacy_ anyway, so be it.

        • CloseEnough June 13, 2025 (6:51 am)

To be clear, you want the Seattle to be like Russia? That’s your example?

  • RL June 12, 2025 (12:01 pm)

Heard three shots and a woman scream at 11 40 ish near 40 and Fauntleroy. Called the cops ASAP but not sure what came of it

    • WSB June 12, 2025 (12:10 pm)

      That was the Fauntleroy/Findlay discovery.

  • FLR June 12, 2025 (12:48 pm)

Does anybody know exactly where the casings were found at Fauntleroy and Findlay? I was in my back 3rd floor bedroom at 11:40 last night with noise cancelling headphones on and I heard a really weird sound in my attic moving fast from front of the house to back. It was loud enough to make me jump with headphones on, didn’t sound like gunfire, I thought it was maybe weird fireworks hitting my roof. Haven’t found any bullet holes. I live just south of Fairmount Park. If you’ve got kids at the elementary school you probably park in front of my house every day.

    • Brett June 12, 2025 (1:42 pm)

Not sure exactly where the casings were found at Findlay and Fauntleroy. I looked this morning but didn’t see anything. I am just south of Fairmount Park Elementary as well and when I woke up to it around 11:40 I initially thought it sounded like someone banging a hammer on thin sheet metal like a garage door.

    • RL June 12, 2025 (8:22 pm)

We def heard three gun shots and a scream – very close to yall.  Cops found one casing but no other news

  • Fairmount neighbor June 12, 2025 (2:42 pm)

I also heard the shots at 11:40 and called 911 ASAP. I heard a car racing by heading south on Fauntleroy and then about 5 or 6 loud shots. An officer followed up with me today, and I’m glad the police are looking into it, but sadly there’s not a lot they can see from Ring camera footage. If the school zone cameras were on, they would’ve captured that vehicle. Sounds like there are a lot of city restrictions on that footage though (if they even have it). Seems like it would be beneficial for the safety of the city/community to have this info! If anyone who lives on Fauntleroy between Edmund’s & Findlay have good cameras, please reach out to SPD. I’m grateful that the neighbor who found the casings is safe (but how terrifying) and that officers are taking the time to look for these criminals. I hope they’re held accountable.

  • Alki neighbor June 12, 2025 (3:54 pm)

I was walking my dog on Alki when that shooting happened, scared the holy hell out of my and my dog but it looked like they were just firing randomly into the air

    • Alki Resident June 12, 2025 (4:04 pm)

I was home less than a block from where the shots were heard on the 2300 block of Alki (53rd & Alki) and heard two shots — pretty alarming. I sadly expect this sort of thing on busy holiday weekends in the wee hours of the morning, but to hear it before midnight on a weeknight, just minutes after taking my dog out was disheartening and scary. What kind of community activism can I do it help keep my neighborhood safe & inviting? Calling 911 is reaction just doesn’t feel like enough.

  • Birch_Blue_Mama June 12, 2025 (6:05 pm)

I live on Fauntleroy where the incident happened last night. I woke from sleep with a start when the shots were fired. I just came out to my car for the first time since last evening and there is a bullet hole in my front windshield and a shell casing on the driver’s seat. I’ve called the police. Very thankful none of my neighbors were harmed! Please stay safe everyone!

  • Patrick June 12, 2025 (6:50 pm)

I just discussed this with my 45 yo son, asking him if he heard the shooting. He told me he was in the middle of it. Two cars were speeding along Fauntleroy, whooping it up (kids?) and shooting randomly. He dove under a parked vehicle while the two cars came back around. Car 1: Honda, early 2000. Car 2: Nissan also early 2000. Lots of shooting, maybe multiple weapons. My son just went out (6:00 pm) and found a 9 mil shell just south of the intersection of Fauntleroy and Finley.

  • RL June 12, 2025 (8:27 pm)

Glad you’re safe, so sorry about your car. Have they got any suspects?

Sorry, comment time is over.
