WEST SEATTLE CRIME WATCH: Child’s bike stolen

Reader report from Ty:

Someone stole my daughter’s bike last night locked up in front of our house on Delridge Way near the Playfield.

I don’t have the heart to tell her yet but will shortly. I walked the block and no sign of it.:(

If you see it, let us know and we’ll connect you.

ADDED 2:27 PM: We asked Ty for the basic description – it’s a teal GT Stomper, 20″. A police report has been filed – temporary number T00027576.

Check Henderson Pl there are plenty of homeless RV’s on that street that have plenty of stolen bikes outside them. Very sorry this happened to you.

And the bike is probably a different color by now.

Ill check the RV at 18th and Henderson. They seem to be accumulating a lot of bikes this week.

Got to be way down the chain of humanity to steal children’s stuff.

There’s a couple tents by Westwood village that have a LOT of bikes outside of it…. Worth a shot. But do NOT enter – they’ve tried to hustle my husband for our child’s stroller several times when walking to get our kids… just simply walking by on the sidewalk.

Do not attempt to recover any personal property from any thieves, especially at RV or tent camps, without police.  There’s a likely chance of being stabbed or shot.

It’s unfortunate this happens. My nephew and niece bikes as well as my neighbors children bikes were stolen while it was locked up. PLEASE DO NOT engage, confront people in these spaces! Safety first! It will just have to be an uncomfortable conversation that this occurred…

Stealing a kid’s bike is really low.  And as several post’s have alluded to bike’s are accumulating at homeless site’s, I have also seen this on numerous occasions, what is the SPD doing about this to make the thieves accountable?
