WEST SEATTLE WILDLIFE: Morning coyote sighting

Thanks to George for emailing this report of a coyote sighting around 7 am today: “I just saw one heading north on 55th Ave SW / SW Charlestown St. Well fed, alone, 35-40 lbs. Not surprising considering all the rabbits around here!” We publish coyote sightings for awareness, not alarm; here’s a one-sheet on coexistence do’s and don’ts.

Now I am worried. My cat hasn’t come home yet for a couple of days…. Do coyotes eat cats?

Yes, sometimes (along with rats, rabbits, trash, pet food, tree fruit …) but that doesn’t mean that’s what’s happened to your kitty. Did you post a lost-cat notice with us? Email info to westseattleblog@gmail.com if not. – TR
