About the police response on Puget Ridge

We’ve received several questions about a police response on Puget Ridge, west of South Seattle College (WSB sponsor). There was briefly a report of a missing child. The child is reported to have been found and is safe. There was a report that the child had possibly been seen walking with someone he didn’t know and so police have been looking for that person. That’s all we know at this point but will check back with police later.

Any more news??? . . . was the child actually kidnapped by an unknown person? If so, did they find the guy?  If not, do we have a better description? We have many concerned neighbors who live adjacent to the greenbelt. The two  men that found the child said the guy who released the child and ran into the Puget Park greenbelt was barefoot, wearing a black shirt with a red stripe and basketball sweats (or shorts? – I can’t remember). The police were searching the greenbelt, with a K9 unit at one point, for almost 2 hours.Thankfully, these men had just come to open the gate for the trail work crew when they encountered the guy with the child.- Concerned Puget Ridger

No, sorry. When I talked to police public affairs, they didn’t believe this was being classified as a kidnapping. I can’t find a report # under any category. If we see the precinct ops lt. at either of the community meetings we’re covering tonight, we’ll ask him, but otherwise I have to check again tomorrow.

My son works for Parks and Rec and apparently discovered the shoeless little boy in the woods with a man who fled once my son started questioning him. He said they both seemed to have special needs. Apparently they’re looking for the suspect but I’m looking for more details too, no news outlets seem to be covering it at all. The PR person for his organization is supposed to release a statement at some point. Stay tuned…

Which “organization”? We’re a news outlet, we covered this, but as I said, police when last we talked to them didn’t think it was a kidnapping case. If there was an organization involved, that’s the first we’ve heard (unless you mean Parks?). Perhaps something changed? If anyone has more information to share, they’re also welcome to contact us directly (editor@westseattleblog.com). – TR

Was referring to PR from the parks… as the organization that should release some sort of statement. They hailed my son as a hero in the incident. But oddly no one else is talking about it. Such as the news or police. Where did the little boy come from if he wasn’t missing or kidnapped? Did the police share that?

we live along the greenbelt where the boy was found.  i came home to find a lot of police activity and all my neighbors roaming around looking for the person of interest.  so happy the boy was found! and a big shout out to Michelle’s son for finding the boy (and for all his hard work down in Puget Park)!!There was a post on NextDoor from the mother:Loki found. He is ok.My son Loki was found and is alright. We was seen walking with a man, who we do not know. But luckily some parks workers saw them and called the police.

As I said. Loki is home and okay. But they are still looking for the man seen with him.

Thank you to everyone who reached out and helped while we were searching for him today.
