4:28 AM: If you heard all the sirens – a crash in the 5600 block of West Marginal Way SW [map] briefly got a big “heavy rescue” response, but the first units arriving say no one is trapped, so they’re canceling most of it.
4:35 AM: Police are directing traffic to get semitrucks through the area.
We drove by this morning. It was a group of those fart cars, you know, the little ones that are lowered and make stupid farting sounds from their exhaust because that’s supposedly very cool and awesome. “FAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRTTTTTTTTT”
Undoubtedly street racing, but that is just pure speculation on my part.
I always thought those cars sounded like wound up rubberbands but now I’ll go with “fart” cars!
I’m also amused when they go really fast and then have to slow way down to go over a speed bump :)
I live very near the site of the crash. I hear the sound of revving engines a lot, and call it in whenever I can. I wish the local police could do more to stop the racers. I worry that I’ll get hit by one of those idiots!
Amy I have noticed police presence more lately, sitting on West Marginal, but not sure about nite times. At 4:30 am I dont know if its rotation time by then or not. Im on West Marginal twice daily and notice the ” fart cars” speeding and not having the racing competition. Usually just one car and driver.
They should make west marginal one lane and lower the speed limit to 30.
They are doing this during the precincts shift change. Going 100mph is not just trying to have a little fun. Look what just happened to them. This is reckless endangerment and putting people in danger when they drive on this road to get to work early in the mornings. Time to stop giving them warnings and prosecute them to the fullest.
