UPDATE: Police search in Junction for 2 suspects, both arrested

5:11 PM: Police are searching for a suspect on the north end of The Junction, not sure yet why. Updates shortly.

5:22 PM: The suspect police are looking for is someone wanted on a warrant. They were apparently trailing him near California/Dakota when he bolted.

5:31 PM: Helicopter has headed south. Our crew is out trying to find out more from SPD on the ground.

5:35 PM: Police tell us one person is in custody, found by a K9, another still on the loose.

5:43 PM: Another officer we asked said this involves felony theft warrants. And no, we have no description at all of the person being sought.

7:55 PM: Someone asked us if the search is still active; no, it was wrapping up two hours ago as we left The Junction. The post-search Guardian One tweet says the same thing police told us – it started as police tried to arrest someone for whom they had a warrant. The one arrest happened close to where the search started, in the California/Dakota area.

9:01 PM UPDATE: We checked with Lt. Alan Williams at the Southwest Precinct to see if the second suspect had ever been found; he confirms BOTH suspects are now in custody.

I watched the suspect flee as police were chasing him. He was a young African American man, maybe late teens early twenties, white shirt, black jeans with red stripes and was wearing a hat but it flew off when they were chasing him. He was VERY slender hi top style hairdo.

Yeah that sales guy came to our door while this was going on. I don’t open the door but my husband did and he said he could come in and check our smoke detectors. He looked legit but I don’t think they should even be doing that. No we didn’t let him in.

Sgs, I agree. I hope WS can become a community where we don’t have choppers circling every week and all the other crimes wsb reports. WS doesn’t have the best track record looking back over the last 100 years. But things can change, maybe this is our decade.

There have been too many unacceptable things that have happened in WS in the past 10 years. Murder of Ms Guy and the man in the Junction by Talaricos. Various assaults, robberies and flashings of grade school and high school age minors. Police arrested a suspect on my kids playground during recess with guns drawn bank robberies. A mentally unstable man writing gay slurs snd pouring milk everywhere. I mean, i could share so many things. I think anyone reading the blog for a few years knows what I am talking about. Gunfire on Alki last night, nothing new.

I want to declare a moratorium on helicopters hovering over West Seattle… or maybe instead we should have a daily convention of them so we have so many we can finally get bored of worrying about them?

It was at the Dakota california bank so I thought is as witnessing a bank robbery. The tellers were all yelling and banging on the windows pointing to something to get the police officers attention. He was trying o get the mother and child next t the bank in their car safely. I yelled out to the police that the tellers were banging and that’s when he saw the suspect and they both took off, crossing California nearly getting hit by cars. The one suspect slowed down drastically when he could see he was surrounded by police he was caught 1/2 block south of Dakota.

I’m so tired of all the comments after a crime is reported on here that say “what has happened to our neighborhood?” Newsflash, in case you didn’t know, Seattle is a major metropolitan city, and as with all major metropolitan cities, there will be crime. It’s not exclusive to us.

Stop saying you want to move to Kansas or somewhere else supposedly more crime free, unless you actually start packing up your bags and move now.

I have traveled many places around this world, and some cities have felt quite unsafe in. I have never felt unsafe here.

There is no crime free utopia. Be smart, be safe, and let the police know what’s happening.

Believe it or not, this blog helps our community. It also makes it seem like there is a lot of crime because it reports on every little thing. But that is necessary to help stop it.

So please stop saying this neighborhood has gone downhill, and you are moving to Kansas. Unless you are actually packing your bags tomorrow and moving to Kansas.

Actually, Kansas was pretty nice except winter…and summer. That’s why I moved here 46 years ago. And Pictures, kindly refrain from putting your words in my mouth. I have a wife to do that for me and it would tee her off to no end if I allowed someone else to do her job.
