West Seattle 4th of July: Pet reminder – keep ’em inside

Reminder before night gets closer … pet experts say keeping your cats and dogs inside tonight is the humane thing to do – fireworks are not only a direct danger, the noise also scares them to the point where they might run out of home territory. Already today, after a night with hours of illegal fireworks, we’ve added five new lost/found pet listings to the WSB Pets page. It’s here if you need it, but better yet, just don’t run the risk.

The humane thing to do is to NOT set them off in the middle of the city. This is rediculous.

Ridiculous is not taking responsibility for your pet on a night like the 4th of July. Just expect people will break the no fireworks law in the city, they always do.

I love the silent lanterns or balloons that have been set to float above seaview late this evening. Anyone know their story?

Westbird, yes, you’re right, dog owners should keep their pets inside. But the idiots in my neighborhood were setting off fireworks that made the walls of my house shake, until midnight. Indoors or out, it was completely irritating for all of us. If I wanted to be up all night watching/hearing fireworks, I would have gone to Lake Union.

Sorry, comment time is over.
