Full Tilt Ice Cream to open Mondays – starting with their 3rd birthday

Two-scoop announcement from White Center’s Full Tilt Ice Cream this afternoon – they’re celebrating their third birthday next Monday by (a) being open – and subsequent Mondays too (founder Justin Cline says that was in the works anyway) – and (b) making a “matching gift” to the White Center Food Bank – however much ice cream they sell next Monday (June 20th), they’ll give that amount to the food bank. (What? Never been to Full Tilt? Barely a block south of West Seattle, 9629 16th SW. They open at 2 pm on weekdays.)

Oh hooray!!! I don’t know why but it often seems we crave their ice cream on a Monday. PS–Justin, can you make a flavor similar to the Thrifty (from CA) flavor–chocolate malted crunch? I’ve SOOO been craving that and Rite Aid in WA doesn’t stock it.

Does Full Tilt create specialty flavors? Just wondering what sort of ingredients would go into a flavor called Democrats and another flavor called Republicans. I know one of them would have plenty of nuts, but Full Tilt could probably have some fun with it.

How about some Vanilla bean with dark chocolate covered popcorn and caramel swirl!

YES! I wish more restaurants were open on Mondays–that’s when I seem to crave going out. Maybe because I subconsciously know I can’t??

The food bank needs money, not icecream. Have you ever seen 1- the average bmi of a food bank customer? Or 2- the amount of sweets and baked goods at a food bank? They need money for fresh produce and lean protein. Certainly full tilt isn’t trying to get food bank customers addicted to their product so they’ll come spend money on their expensive icecream? Love full tilt, but not this promo.

Yay! I forgot they weren’t open and stopped by this afternoon. Good to know I’ll be able to fulfill my ice cream craving on Mondays from here on out!

@Lorelee- You should be ashamed of yourself!! These wonderful people are doing what they can to try and brighten someone’s day and you make a knock at an unfortunate person’s BMI?!? Should someone who needs to go to the food bank not be able to give their kids a nice treat? I say BRAVO FULL TILT!!!

Ummm, @ Lorelee…. I read that as for however much ice cream they sell that day, they will donate that amount of MONEY to the food bank, but maybe that’s just the glass half full in me?!?!

    Loralee –
with all due respect, if you think the food bank needs money, and they most certainly do need that as much as food donations, then go, give them some of yours if you have not already; but let others donate what they are able to and what they may. And that means anybody, not just FT.

Your comment was a cheap, ill-considered shot. How much ice cream do you *really* think will be sold in a day anyway? Enough to get anybody “addicted”? Doubtful, to me. Good grief, lighten up a little.

Loralee – as a food bank volunteer I see people of all kinds and sizes coming in, all kinds of backgrounds from recent immigrants to long-time community members and seniors, some walk to the food bank, some still have vehicles, some take the bus — poverty and hard times don’t discriminate. Treats are generally not in the budget for folks that are coming in – there is nothing wrong with a little ice cream that is sure to make a child smile, or a parent that is able to provide a birthday cake for that matter for their child or grandma when folks have generously donated those to the food bank. Yes, we all need to eat healthfully, but balance is key. Volunteering at the food bank is a humbling experience – and a joy to be able to assist folks in putting healthy foods on the table and also a few smiles.

Sorry, comment time is over.
