West Seattle beverages: Portside Coffee sets sail in Highland Park

That’s West Seattle’s newest coffee stand – Portside Coffee Company (6720 West Marginal Way; map – that’s near the Subway and commercial fueling station), open for business as of today. Portside serves, appropriately enough given its exterior, Silver Cup Coffee. Hours: 4:30 am-2 pm Mondays-Fridays, 8 am-noon Saturdays, closed Sundays. (By our count, it’s the fourth West Seattle drive-thru, after Red Cup in The Junction, West Bay on Harbor Ave, and Starbucks in The Triangle.)

That’s almost as cool as the old Hat & Boots gas station

is it a drive throw , is there anywhere to sit down in that Silver cup?

Yay! A coffe stand in my ‘hood!

Driving by over the weekend it looks like it may be drive through only.

Drive-through at that location is darn smart. And I like the shiny look;)! The next closest espresso is up the hill is at 16th and Holden; Jo-Jo’s Espresso (next door to Zippy’s) is great but not drive-thru.

Another stretch of arterial that I have been waiting for a drive-through to show-up is midway on Delridge.

It is about time. I bet the coffee is excellent! It is not hard to get in and out of. Drivers are going to love it! How creative and it’s “Ship Shape”!

Awesome design! I get on the highway heading south down there all the time. Good strategic placement to get my business.

Also, there is a drive through coffee on Roxbury next to Roxbury Auto Parts.

    NWC,

Did you know the hat and boots from that old gas station is now part of a Seattle park? Check out Oxbow Park on Corson Ave in Georgetown.

    This is pretty awesome!
However, don’t forget to go to Dubsea coffee just south of 8th & Roxbury. It rocks too.

Dubsea is pretty good – Tim’s right. This building made me smile though!

    LMA: “silver cup?”
    .
the thing is meant to look like a freighter, methinks.

Perhaps the word “Coffee”, in the Headline planted this in my head. But, at first glance, it reminded me of Tacoma’s Java Jive.

    .

Looking at it again, I can kind of see the ship in it, but still thinking more of coffee pot/cup.

    .

    Cool looking, nonetheless!

    .

Portside Owner; thank you so much for fabulous architecture; would love to learn more about the design(er), please

  • Portside Owner January 5, 2010 (12:55 pm)

    Hi Diane-
The designer is my father-in law David Fischer, who is an architect. He owns his own firm, DK Fischer Architects and he is responsible for the creative theme we have at Portside Coffee Co.

Not only is he the designer, but the lead builder as well. I can provide his contact info. if you’re interested.

  • Portside Owner (wife) January 5, 2010 (3:31 pm)

Just a little correction on my husbands post, there is no “c” in Fisher, just DK Fisher Architects :)

  • Crystal F January 5, 2010 (4:50 pm)

I love how the hubby hasn’t quite got the last name right yet :) Congrats guys!! I’ll pass this onto my W Seattle friends.
