West Seattle Traffic Alert: EB bridge entrance reopened

Not sure yet what’s up, but police cars are blocking the eastbound bridge entrance at 35th/Fauntleroy. Text message mentions accidents, but nothing on 9-1-1 yet. Also thanks to Todd in Westwood for word that scanner traffic around 4:30 indicated an eastbound crash that sent debris onto the westbound side. 5:21 PM UPDATE: Marco reports in comments that it’s reopened at Fauntleroy/35th.

We just came from SODO – there are two cars & two police cars in right lane (eastbound) just beyond logs and three more cars just before that – with no police cars…so don’t know if all five were involved or if the three were distracted by the first accident and got in a separate fender bender.

It doesn’t look like there are injuries, but no cars (although oddly one bus) are being allowed to get on the bridge.

I’m guessing they’ll have it cleared by 5:45 judging from what I saw a few minutes ago.

thanks – Junior Member of the Team and I saw the lights and delay in time to hop over to the low bridge so we could get to school district HQ, and co-publisher Patrick is checking out the crash scene after having posted the update above (JMoT and I are at district HQ but the event we came early for, a school-closure protest at 5 pm, hasn’t started yet anyway).

A helicopter with undiscernable markings and a strong headlight is circling the bridge area right now

I drove past while it was shut down. Seemed just like a few cars involved in a fender bender. No huge amount of damage, no ambulances or folks that seemed injured. Hope everyone is okay. I assume they shut the entrance down just because of the number of cars involved and no place for them to pull over there.

on the way home (~5:30pm), i noticed that one of the concrete barricade sections had “moved” its way into the WB side of the bridge heading into WS. i’m assuming it was a SDOT truck that was directing traffic to drive around it.

Sorry, comment time is over.
