Good news for library lovers in south West Seattle

Thanks to Judy Pickens for calling our attention to this recent change: The Southwest Library branch is now open Sundays, which means — along with the West Seattle branch in Admiral — there are now two WS libraries you can go to on Sunday afternoons. Both are open noon-5.

Am I crazy, or did the High Point Branch used to be open on Sunday afternoons?

I saw that when I was up there this afternoon. That’s great!

You’re not crazy, mayjune! I used to go there with my daughter after the farmer’s market.

The Sunday hours for the Highpoint Library were moved to the Southwest Library. So there were already two libraries open on Sunday.

But, it seems that people have a stigma against going to the one at Highpoint though… Its a good library and I am sad that it will be closed on Sundays now. It is the library I have all my thinsg sent to for pick up.

Southwest is a bigger library than Highpoint–and Highpoint had the hours temporarily while Southwest was being expanded. So Southwest has its Sundays back again.

I’m very happy to see Sunday hours at the SW branch — especially during the bad weather months. It’s a very busy library.

I love going to the library on sundays and live a block from southwest so i was so excited to see in december that starting the new year they would be open on Sundays. I did not realize that Judy Pickens had a part in advocating for this- thanks Judy! Sunday is the perfect library day! when my husband and i went to celebrate the last sunday but walking down to the library- it was quite busy there so people are definately making use of it.

Yay! I am so happy Southwest will be open more. I always forget to go on Saturday and then wish it was open on Sunday.

Regarding the use of the Highpoint library — I use to live near there and used that library exclusivly. The new building is fantastic and the collection is slowly filling out. From what I observed, it is well used, especially by school children for homework after school. It is a real asset to the area.

    Go libraries!

Sorry, comment time is over.
