New West Seattle group for families with babies & toddlers

The folks behind PEPS (Program for Early Parent Support) have just announced Little PEPperS, starting this spring in West Seattle, for parents with babies and toddlers (through 3 years old). Ahead, the full announcement, including how to sign up:

Are you ready to come and play? Are you ready to meet other parents with infants and toddlers (0-3 years)? Come and wiggle, squiggle and giggle! Join us at our West Seattle location where over the year, there will be 4 sessions to choose from. Each session is 11 weeks long.

A professional group leader oversees fun and informative morning activities for parents and their children. I was so excited when I saw this announcement! My husband and I arrived in Seattle with a 3 month old, so just missed out on the PEPS experience, while so many of our friends were involved and really got a lot of out of it. However, Tuesday mornings from 10 to 11:30am? Well, that excludes any working parents (as we are). Very disappointing.

I have to say that I’ve been to the Delridge story time and it was horrible. Way too structured and no fun. The best I’ve been to by far was the High Point story time. The Southwest library was way too crowded when I went and downtown is a pain due to parking.

Did you go in the past 3 weeks? This was a new program there running for four weeks with the fourth installment this Thursday.

Count me in with Shelley, all excited and then disappointed. There’s no way I can swing that time of day.

I’m with Shelley and Lauren – I would love to do this but we can’t with full-time jobs.

Maybe we can start our own with working parents?!

For those looking for an evening PEPS experience (and with babies older than 4 months, since there already is an evening program for newborns) – I would suggest that you contact PEPS directly and request such a schedule. They might be able to arrange something if they know there is such a demand! The number is 547-8570 or visit the website: http://www.pepsgroup.org

grrtraveler and others – I think it’s a great idea to get something going on your own. There is a website for West Seattle PEPS families (started and managed by local volunteers), you might want to check that and post your idea/announcement there and in the monthly newsletter that goes out to over 400 PEPS families in West Seattle. http://www.pepswestseattle.org

WSB – I have only been to story time once at the Delridge branch and didn’t return bc others are so much better.
As for the Peps thing – I didn’t do Peps and have plenty of friends with kids. I meet others at the park, on walks, etc… Just be friendly and open to meeting others and it will happen without having to get involved in some sort of organization. (unless, of course, that’s what you want)

Sorry, comment time is over.
