Coffee cam

Finally, another live cam to add to our WS cams page! Hotwire Online Coffeehouse proprietor Lora Vickrey e-mailed us to announce Hotwire’s new baristacam. Unless you’re on a Mac (which unfortunately in this case we are), you can check it out here — Lora notes you likely will be prompted to download ActiveX in order for the live video to work.

I just KNEW there was something I liked about the WS Blog’s anonymous parents. They’re fellow Mac users!

Dating all the way back to our ’94 Power Mac 6100/60, state of the art at the time.

“Hey you get back to work!” Yeah you with your hands in your pocket, stop holding down the counter and do something!”
    Hahaha..goodtimes…ahh big brother.

Yikes! I wouldn’t want everyone to be able to watch me at “work”!

My first Mac was the original back in 1984. But we’d had an Apple II in the house since the late 70’s. Even stuck with them through the dark years of the pre-Jobs 90’s.

ms_f: Good point. I wonder what the Hotwire baristas really think of the new webcam. I guess they could always steam up the lens if they had to.

As of the time of this post, the person at the counter is wear a baseball cap…very smart – hides your face! :-)

I stopped going there after one of the employees was sucking up all the bandwidth they have downloading large files on one of the house computers. It took me all of my free 10 minutes to even open up my email’s home page. When I called the barista out after seeing him quickly minimize the program he was using, he still tried to charge me for an extra three minutes. I refused to pay it. I never even got to see my inbox that fateful day and have never been back since. Hopefully this may stop him from pulling this again with someone else! Until he stops doing this crap, I’ll just go somewhere else with free wi-fi and surf on one of my portable internet machines instead.

Wow, Christopher, when I started work for Old National Bank Marketing Dept. back in 1986, I was introduced to my first Mac. Have used one ever since then, at home and at work, except when ‘forced’ for use a PC, like now.

woo hoo. get to watch the slowest baristas in WS. I stopped going there after trying to get a coffee in the morning – you know, when most people are in a hurry to get to work – and the barista thought that would be a good time to chat up her friends who were at the counter – and did not even acknowledge that there was a line out the door! Some people turned around and left- also not acknowledged by the gal behind the counter.

I have 4 modern macs in my house :) And an original Mac Classic. And a Mac Classic that’s a fish tank now.

And I simply won’t go anywhere else for coffee. It simply takes TIME to do it right.

Good things come to those who wait, grasshopper.

Sorry, comment time is over.
