Theatrical touchup

Wandering through the Admiral District this morning, we spotted West Seattle’s Only Moviehouse in the process of getting a paint job (note the primer above the marquee):

Now, if the owners will upgrade Piers 1 & 2 with new seats, I’ll be happy. Oh well, what can a person expect for 5 bucks.

Some of the gum wads on the floor predate the Bicentennial.

Not that there’s anything wrong with that…

That last time I was in, it smelled cleaner, so I think the new owners are showing some Admiral Pride. Glad to see it.

I heard they’re putting some peep booths in the back.

I love that place. The price is always right, and the audiences are usually low key and quiet.

My only suggestion for improvement would be to adjust the center of the marquee so that the two panels jut out in a triangle. That way the movie titles would be visible to those passing north and south of the theatre (on the Admiral/California intersection, for example).

But all in all, it’s a wonderful place at a great price, and it’s all ours.

I think the theater would be improved with a painting of the zodiac on the ceiling, and red velvet seats that you could slide back. Also a nice chandelier.

The Admiral Theater is one of the landmarks certainly that should never be torn down in West Seattle. But there are a lot of others that I would say good riddance to. The building that Verite is in is a keeper as well. But the Hamm one, get ird of that stink dump.

Sorry, comment time is over.
