beckgormanMemberCan anyone please give me an idea of the “actual” Comcast download mbps speeds experienced in the WS-North Admiral neighbourhood? We’ve just moved here from Australia and I’m trying to navigate the options – as well as decide between Centurylink and Comcast for Internet, home phone and TV. No sense paying for a higher speed option that we’ll never experience! Thank you. We’re so happy to be part of the neighbourhood.

clark5080ParticipantComcast is the best option. Since the city council controls the cable contract there is no real competition it is only satellite or comcast. Internet is either comcast or century link and though I have not tried it there is 4g internet now also

chrismaParticipantCan’t speak to North Admiral, but in Morgan Junction we get a pretty consistent 20 Mbs with Comcast.

maplesyrupParticipantThe test I just ran (in N. Admiral) showed 18.92 for download and 5.07 for upload.

Admiral935Participantgonna depend on what speed you buy. The lowest cost internet only current price of $20/month (after 6months its more like $39.99) is 3 Mbps down and .75up via bandwidth speed test*. It is slow, depending on…..
Blast plus at $69.99 says 25 Mbps down. Also get the good modem (Docis 3.0?) I will be upgrading but need to haggle with them. It is a monopoly. They are pretty good though. No plans for fiber optic last I heard (just dreaming here).

kayoParticipantWe gave up on Centurylink a while back. It just wasn’t fast enough. Comcast is the way to go.

beckgormanMemberThank you very much to all! Very helpful. Having WSB as a resource is just one more reason why we know West Seattle is a great community to be a part of.
