West Seattle Crime Watch: Ola burglarized; ‘stun’ item stolen

We start West Seattle Crime Watch with word of a business burglary overnight. From Natalie at Ola Salon in Luna Park:

Hi there, I wanted to let the community know that Ola Salon in West Seattle was broken into and (burglarized) last night. All of our retail, equipment, cash, checks, two laptops and more was stolen. Everyone is safe; we just want to give the community a heads up and to be aware of a robber in the neighborhood. If anyone happened to see anything, please let the police and the front desk at Ola know immediately. Thank you! 206-933-6702

We have another reader report – this one from Mona, who says she ordered something because of a crime report- and now it has resulted in one:

I came home around 5:30 PM today and found (an) empty package on my doorstep which was supposed to have contained the stun gun flashlight that a WSB reader recommended in (comments on) this post. I already filed a report. This happened near 17th avenue SW and Cambridge.

Be careful with all your belongings. I had a pressure washer I was in the process of putting away when I got side tracked for five minutes. Even in my own yard, barely out of sight, it was stolen. Sorry to hear about all the theft…

Terrible news…but glad no one was hurt at Ola.

All the construction brings a lot of strangers into the neighborhood. Hard to tell who belongs there and who doesn’t….

Watch your bank accounts they got checks from Ola’s…those checks can be “washed” and reissued!

This is just so sad. My heart breaks for Rachel & all of her staff. So glad that no one was hurt.

Thank you for all the well wishes and concern, we love our community. We have contacted any clients whose payment information (checks or card numbers) may be at risk due to the burglary. These were all clients that had been in Tuesday or Wednesday of this week. Please contact us at Ola if you have any questions, 206-933-6702.

Have police check the same camera they used from the auto place next door to Duo’s(next door to Ola’s), the night of the robbery/shooting a couple of months ago.. didn’t those images help with that crime? Maybe the perpetrator scum that hit Ola’s showed up along the street. Does the PetCareCenter next door have surveillance camera too?

Cameras, cameras, cameras – and an alarm. Sadly people do this type of security after losing it all. Still not right sorry Ola.

Today I read about Yussuf “Derrick” Abdulle being arrested for pimping out two from Delrige/West Seattle. This comes on the heels of recent charges, convictions, and appellate decisions concerning other West Seattle pimps and child prostitutes.

WSB, I ask that you please consider writing an investigative piece on the problem of child prostitution in West Seattle, and tell the story of the scumbag pimps who have been charged and prosecuted from West Seattle in just the past few years. Child prostitution is an unspeakable horror, and many would be amazed to learn about its prevalence in West Seattle. I once saw it in action right down the street from Tony’s and called the police, and I am sure I am not the only opne who has seen things that raise this concern.

In the past, WSB has done great investigative pieces — the problem of West Seattle pimps, looked at in detail with the excellent investigative jornalism skills you offer, would do well to bring this ugly reality to light. Please consider it.

Thanks L & O – you are likely referring to this:

I can’t follow other sites very closely – so much news of “our own” to cover and research and break every day and we can barely do justice to it all – so once in a rare while, we miss a followup like that that appears somewhere else (the seattlepi.com people track court filings very well). I am certain that is the vice-related SWAT bust at the Super 24 that we covered briefly that day – I pestered SPD Media Relations multiple times afterward to ask for details, and finally gave up; they said they were having trouble reaching the vice officers, who worked nights while they worked days. But since this story says someone’s been charged, I will look up the charging documents ASAP.

I am so sorry to hear you all are having to deal with this, Ola! Everyone there – Rachel, Kathy, KC, Christina, Carol – is so fantastic. I hope things are sorted out, replaced, and healed as quickly as possible.

Sorry to hear about this. You are a wonderful establishment in our neighborhood. I love getting my hair cut there with Dawn.
