West Seattle restaurants: Café, with crepes, for The Junction

A long-empty space on the north end of The Junction is being readied for its new life as a café and creperie – though the name is still being worked out. Charell Estby started a Facebook page a week and a half ago for her future operation at 4160 California SW, the long-closed former Divina, under the name Firefly Café and Creperie, but when WSB contributor Keri DeTore talked with her earlier this week, she explained that might not turn out to be its official name. Nonetheless, you can track her progress at that page. Charell told Keri that she’s “over the moon about the possibilities” the space offers. She’s planning to offer soups, salads, and pastries along with sweet and savory crepes that will be served all day. She is aiming for a September/October opening.

POSTSCRIPT: Charell says she has the OK to use the Firefly name.

    Yes! Yes! Yes! Please do!

Ever since that little place on Harbor Ave closed, I’ve missed having crepes in W. Seattle.

Egg, ham, gruyere, caramelized onions filled crepe powdered with parmesan. Add a simple salad or some fruit. Breakfast!

Please please please! Same as shed22 I have missed local crepes. They are not difficult to make but it is difficult if you want one or two and want to do it at home. Do not forget savory crepes.

How about Over the Moon Creperie and Cafe?

I like Firefly (think the sci-fi series).

I can’t wait! This is definitely something missing in West Seattle.

  • Oh man June 30, 2012 (11:23 pm)

Oh man, I have been WAITING for this for….how long? Thank you! I’m there!

Although I like the sci-fi series, remember we already have a “fly” in West Seattle: Shoofly Pie. So, let’s keep flies out of our food. I like Mike’s idea “Over the Moon.” I can picture a cute logo, too, with a cow jumping over the moon.

    Crepes are ok.

    Blini are better!

How about crepes AND blini? Huh, huh?

There is already a firefly kitchen name in seattle for a food provider so that could be part of the name issue. I am happy to see a new food option for the junction and hope it is not overly priced!

Sonoma, I like your idea of the cow jumping over the moon!

    .

I hadn’t given a lot of thought to the logo; just a very quick, passing thought of an image of the moon and stars in the night sky.

Maybe the Cow Store (John’s Deli) cow could be the model! ;-)

Just a quick reminder that Pearls, the super cute little coffee shop on Delridge Ave, serves some great crepes. That said, I am super stoked to hear about this proposal. It is a great space.

re: the comment that there is already a ‘fly’ in west seattle,,,but..there is plenty of room in town for more than one ‘fly’ :) I vote for Firefly…

+1 for the great crepes at Pearls. But we can never have too many creperies. It’ll just mean twice as many crepes for me. Welcome to the neighborhood!

Over the Moon: Clearly the moon should be a folded over crepe!

Love the idea of “over the moon crepes”.

Another chime for Pearls at DelWay & Edmunds. They have both savory and sweet style crepes at a very reasonable price. The salmon version is a fave of mine.

Glad to see another place offering crepes in WS!
