West Seattle scenes: Three views of tonight’s sunset

That view of tonight’s sunset is courtesy of Barry in Gatewood. If you’re reading from the home page, click ahead to also see JayDee‘s view from Upper Alki, and WSB co-publisher Patrick Sand‘s view from Genesee Hill:

From JayDee, a wider view of the Olympic Mountains, with a ferry on the Sound:

And, from Patrick (he stopped while out covering tonight’s West Seattle Art Walk – our roundup of Art Walk stops will be up later tonight):

A contributing factor to the intense color of recent sunsets – as well as moonsets, if you’re up that late – has been the “Big Hump” forest fire on the Olympic Peninsula, with its smoke plume first visible from West Seattle on Sunday. The latest report: More than 600 acres afire.

The moon set has been spectacular too – a deep yet bright orange, like an ember, right before it goes below the horizon!

I mentioned that after the jump. Usually 2 am-plus, but perfect for us night owls, if you have at least a bit of a southwestward view…
