West Seattle restaurants: Saigon Boat Café expands

Alki’s Saigon Boat Café has expanded, a year and a half after opening at 2632 Alki SW, to add a restaurant in a separate building immediately east of the pho shop’s original location. WSB contributor Keri DeTore reports that the owners expanded to add what they’re calling a “more elegant” restaurant:

Its menu includes some Chinese dishes such as chow mein and fried rice cooked in a more “Vietnamese style,” as well as more salads, including one with mangos. She says the new restaurant also has a small back room, with antique furniture, that will be available for party rentals:

Summer hours for Saigon Boat Café and its new restaurant are noon-10 pm daily.

I’m glad they are doing so well! They have the best soup base! If I lived closer to them I would be there every week. I will make a point of dining there during Autumn and Winter!

I read on the WS blog that their vegetarian pho was delicious. I tried it six months ago and am now a weekly customer. From what I have experienced & observed in over 25 visits I think you may like all of their food and their service.
As said in Vietnamese, thơm ngon (Delicious)

Love their food; looking forward to Chinese dishes also – wish them all luck. Great somebody are expanding during this economy. I will even come down to Alki during winter rain storms! John – West Seattle

Big fan; regular customer. One suggestion, hire an interior designer.

Glad to see this. Saigon Boat cafe has the best vegetarian pho broth anywhere. A lot of people love them for a lot of reasons, but that is mine.

The only place in west Seattle that doesn’t serve dish-water pho! Their spring rolls & fresh rolls are better than Pho Cyclo and they have the best vegetarian vermicelli bowl of all time (and I’m not even a vegetarian.) Love that place, can’t wait to try out their new joint. Can they please please take down the Christmas decorations in the window? The large ornaments gotta go.

I’m excited about this! The one thing West Seattle lacks is a really good Vietnamese restaurant. I hope they will add more authentic Vietnamese dishes or try some specials.

Ok, I will have to try these guys at some point. I usually just go to one of the kajillion Vietnamese restaurants in White Center, particularly my beloved 88 Bistro because it’s so close. But if Saigon Boat Cafe is this good I’ll come north for it!

Sorry, comment time is over.
