Just to stop the rumor mill.
As we reported when covering the last Parks Board meeting and the budget discussion therein, the Parks Superintendent has said that they are developing budget scenarios that could have anything and everything on a potential closure list. City Council President Richard Conlin said at the last Southwest District Council meeting that he suspects Parks will be hardest hit by forthcoming city budget cuts. There may be midyear budget cuts too.
By all accounts, the next best place to voice your opposition to cuts in parks or any particular services is NEXT WEDNESDAY – The City Council is having its first public hearing on the budget. It’s at New Holly, and this is as close as the hearings get to West Seattle in the first round. Advocates say that showing up sends a better message than just another e-mail.
