I just heard TR announce during her KUOW interview that WSB will approach 500,000 page views for the month.

    Applause On!!!!!

Thanks, WSD (I’m online from the parking lot by KUOW, gotta put up some more news before braving I-5 to come home) … we will likely hit that milestone by early afternoon today. The cool part if you’ll forgive us geeking out on it is that this is happening even though the majority of our home-page news posts don’t “jump” … if you go to a newspaper or TV site, you have to jump off the main page to read the story, since the main page usually just has headlines (or sometimes a one-line summary), so many pageviews on those sites are attributable to people who had to click a second time just to read anything about the story … we only “jump” the really long stuff … Anyway, thanks again to everyone for their support. The radio show was fun – thanks for listening! … TR

    Dang, I missed it.

Heard the tease about it on KUOW early this morning and told myself to turn on the radio at work, and then completely forgot until I saw dood’s post.

I’ll bet after your interview today they’ll be even more traffic to WSB.

Thanks … I was a disc jockey in my late teens/early 20s. Even got fired once because I insisted on using my real name (with a surname like Record, why not?) — which is something most on-air people don’t do — and a general manager said it sounded too fake!

I love it! I was talked out of news and radio by university professors in the industry – both said it was an awful place to take a career.

Granted, both the TV and radio stations they exposed me to were local in Southern California, a pretty wretched place to do anything other than suck up some skin cancer.

Oh, I can trump you there. I got my radio start in Las Vegas. I’m a SoCal native and while it can indeed be wretched, not as wretched as Vegas. (At the time, Vegas was still “small” enough I had to drive to the FCC office in Long Beach to get my third-class license. I don’t think announcers have to get licensed any more …)

I didn’t post on the original thread announcing this, but I was thoroughly excited to find out about this, and to be able to hear TR’s voice, until……I realized I’d be catching a bus to head out to a Dr.’s appointment a little after nine.

    .

I was hyped at first, because with having Mondays off form work, I could have listened to the interview in it’s entirety, even if it lasted six hours! ;) Heck, even Tues-Thurs, I could have listened until about 9:50, when I have to leave for work!

    .

Glad to hear it went so well!

TR and Patrick. I just saw your twitter about your 510K mark..that is totally awesome. You have worked so hard for all of this, I hope it just gets better and better…of course, as long as you can fit some sleep in :)

I am pretty sure announcers do not need licenses…based on the announcers :)

    Tracy,

My friend heard the interview and was raving about you and the blog. Congrats! She was congratulating us on moving to the coolest place in Seattle and said she could see why we wanted to move over after listening to the interview. Wish I’d heard it.

    Love the blog. Great work!

    Thank you so much.

The tentative final number for the month is 514,581 … way past the previous record set last month, which was a month with one extra day, to boot! – will post about it on the home page at some point but there are more important news stories under way now … still updating the fallout from the West Seattle bank robbery/chase/downtown shooting, plus monitoring Starbucks closure news to see if any WS stores are affected, plus I’m working on an update about the work that’s under way at Junction Plaza Park site .. and going out now to see if the tall ship mentioned this am has already passed by! – TR
