“Sad day” at Holy Rosary: Longtime principal Kris Brown leaving

“A very sad day for all of us involved with this school” is how this news is described by the WSB’er who e-mailed to let us know: Holy Rosary School‘s longtime principal Kris Brown just announced she is leaving after this school year to lead St. Catherine School in Maple Leaf. In a letter on the Holy Rosary website, Brown writes, “It has been exciting to be a part of Holy Rosary School during its time of tremendous growth. However, at this time in my life, I believe I can sustain the energy required in the role of principal for many more years at a smaller school.” (St. Catherine has 200+ students; HR has 400+.) Also on the HR website is a letter from School Commission president Terry Scanlan, saying in part, “It is difficult to imagine Holy Rosary School without Kris at the helm. … Change is never easy or smooth. But change also brings with it the opportunity for genuine growth.” Scanlan writes that the principal search will start immediately.

Kris will be missed by all of the students and parents. She is a principal that is loving yet holds everyone accountable. She made us so comfortable knowing our child would be nourished and educated in an amazing family. It is our loss and St. Catherine’s gain. Our Holy Rosary Family has had so many changes with Fr. Sarkies leaving and Fr. John taking the lead and now Kris leaves. We are so sad for Holy Rosary but know with great change can come great joy. St. Catherine’s has great joy obvious in their future and I’m sure HRS will have similar with their new leadership. We will miss Kris beyond words but wish her the best; as SCooper said he/she has big shoes to fill!

Having been the beloved principal of Holy Rosary School for a quarter of its history says a lot. Kris Brown has made her indelible mark in the history of school. It is a sad day for us all when Kris Brown leaves. She has been and is the pillar of this community. Having gone through the administration of 3 pastors and going on her 4th one says a lot.

St. Catherine has gotten itself a gem of a principal! I know they know it and will treasure her far more than anyone will!

Sorry, comment time is over.
