TRAFFIC/TRANSIT TODAY: Veterans Day 2015 edition

(Six WS-relevant views; more cams on the WSB Traffic page)
Good morning! Some changes for the holiday:

*No school
*Metro’s on a “reduced weekday” schedule
*No West Seattle Water Taxi

NIGHTTIME TRAFFIC ALERT: The project team for The Whittaker (Fauntleroy/Alaska/40th/Edmunds) has forwarded this alert:

We will be working on the Edmunds Street Crossing along Fauntleroy Way starting this Thursday night. During the night time work on Edmunds, 40th to Fauntleroy will be closed. Once the time is up for each night, then it will be plated for traffic during the day. This work is anticipated to take about 1 week and should be completed by Friday 11/20 next week weather permitting. There will likely be some additional restoration to do after next Friday, but that would be on the sidewalks, and not in the street.

The Whittaker alert didn’t happen to say what time the closure will be occurring? I’m guessing not, as you would’ve likely posted it. But since that’s a road I take very often, it would be nice to know how early “night” is to them.

Reply: “They plan on starting to set up signs around 7-7:30 and close the road at 8 PM and work up util around 10 PM. Each night different steps in the work, some are noisy steps, and some are very little noise.”

We have a 2 Veteran household and like to stay in WS to support local businesses. Any WS businesses offering veterans discounts today? Would like to take the family out and what can I say, would love a discount.

Thank you for your service! Blue Moon Burgers says on FB that they’re offering free burgers to veterans. Sorry I didn’t grab the direct link, but check it out. Haven’t heard of anything else around here but that doesn’t mean it’s not happening, just that we haven’t heard … TR

Thanks to Blue Moon Burger and Menchies. We didn’t have to cook dinner last night and we supported a local business. Hope more West Seattle businesses will do the same for veterans next year. We frequent local businesses often, it was so nice to be “treated” last night!!

Sorry, comment time is over.
